  1. That's the problem. The sub is here, but the damn table is messing things up. Gonna have to have a talk with Santa.
  2. I listened to jp11801's Cary 300SEI with K1000s and preferred both the Sig 30 and F1 to it, though, in fairness, I don't remember what tubes were being used at the time, and that could make a boatload of diff. I was also a bit disappointed in it with the R10s as I heard it was "the" amp for R10s. Again, could have been the tube thing, though.
  3. Perhaps I'll pick up a double shift. Give some regular wearers a holiday break.
  4. You sound like my co-workers...but they ain't showing me any pics.
  5. Not if used with skill
  6. Good to know who has the asshat duty today. I was afraid it was my day and I missed out.
  7. But how many amps do you have headed your way? The Zana Deux, two SinglePowers and...?
  8. Other than your strange need to slap back at assumptions I don't hold (unwashed masses?), we see things pretty much the same. Just because I've acquired some gear, doesn't mean I judge anyone for what they own, and since your gear is different than my own, I can probably learn a thing or two from you. As far as anyone else goes, rock on with your stock earbuds if that's what pleases. Ask me about something, though, and I'll tell you straight up what I think. All of us are here for the music (I hope), but the hobby aspect, learning about this and that, is a different thing imo. I'm trying to get into DIY right now, mostly so I can understand what others are talking about, and why some things work well together and why some don't, but I'm starting with -0 knowledge. I've got some books, a boyfriend, and a retired electrical engineer in my neighborhood trying to help me (I need two mentors so I don't burn them out). So far, I'm learning to solder (made a little robot with blinking eyes), and picking up some basics. I've got some kits made for ages 10-14 to teach me to read schematics and not to fry things. The other night, I was messing around with things, and my friend's eight-year-old son had to show me how to do it right....twice! Talk about a learning curve... So zero hard feeling, Mr. Lupus...though your name is horrible... and asshats get passed around a lot in these parts. Hoping today it's not my turn. Let us know when you get that Reference and what you think.
  9. I'm thinking wonderful idea! I'm in!
  10. Your SR-Omega privileges are revoked.
  11. I read that interview. What's strange is that I seemed to live next door to him in NYC, at least from where he said he lived. Don't remember him, but years could be different, though time frame seems the same.
  12. Any time in February is good for me, and I'm sure John would be glad to let you plan the meet. I think Mike mentioned something about early February as well. Are you sure Neil would want our party in his house?
  13. Neil, are you moving before February? John's going to be hosting another meet that the Florida crew will attend and Aaron (honorary Florida member) as well. Willing to make a pilgrimage to hear the NWO as well as other goodness.
  14. The man's got talent.
  15. Maybe that was done before, but not mentioned simply as it wouldn't mean anything alone, and get false hopes up if other didn't work out. If they actually got a large table rebuilt successfully, it would be time to say something. btw, I'm talking through my hat (just wanted to use that expression). I barely know how to work my laptop, and know diddly about anything else computer-wise.
  16. There's been another update, basically saying that they've done one large table rebuild (I don't know what that means) that took about 15 hours, and they've started on another, which will probably take longer. The first looks successful, but again, no promises.
  17. Are you calling Nate a ho?
  18. Thanks for the added pics, especially putting some faces to the names. Glad your meet turned out so well.
  19. Nope. Right now I'm playing with placement. I really need a rack. My previously useful jumbo-sized coffee table is now getting in the way.
  20. Nice score, Nate. I once furnished a whole apartment from stuff picked up on the street. We used to call it ground scoring and made regular rounds in the wealthy neighborhoods. Never found any audio goodies, though.
  21. There were also raves for the vmoda vibes. Every one is looking for a giant killer. As long as there are new inexpensive iems coming out, there's going to be 1) a rush to be the first to get them and tell everyone else 2) more people who want to try them out and post good things to feel good about buying them 3) bandwagon effect 3) reality setting in that Etys are the only way to go
  22. Ninety-five new members in Nov. (so far).
  23. If you build it, we will come. I think it's granodemostasa's (did I get that right?...long names confuse)
