  1. Which pads are you using, velour or pleather?
  2. I have the ER4P/S and it's fine with the mini^3. When you don't want to carry around an amp, which I don't if I'm really going portable and not just bringing my ipod or pcdp to a different location, the ability to run ER4P straight from my nano is really nice.
  3. I never noticed mine having a "warm up" period. I had them stock for a couple weeks and heard no changes, then had them modded, which made quite a difference, but I've noticed no changes since. Is your amp brand new?
  4. Of course, if you were also interested in a small portable amp that also had a dac for when you wanted to use it with a computer, you could up your budget and get a pico
  5. As Nate said, the headphones will make a difference, and also what's your source? The last time I spent making any real comparisons between portables, certain amps were able to reproduce the music from higher end sources much better than others, yet when an ipod was being used, some not-so-great but good amps sounded perfectly fine and equal to the better ones. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you might not need to spend that much if using a portable source, which most people are. It evens things out a bit. As I went to post, I now see your headphone choice. I second the mini^3 recommendation, and you'll have some money left over for music.
  6. Happy Birthday!!!
  7. I'm working from memory, since my 650s are visiting out-of-town at the moment and I haven't listened to that combo in about a year, but if memory serves, the 650s had a fat, heavy feel, especially in the bass.
  8. Disagree if you must. You may be right. I've not heard either the M^3 or Woo, but outside of DIY amps, which would be the way to go if you could, what other amps under $400 new can drive K340s as well as sound decent with a range of cans, especially if you're interested in the small footprint of solid state, which I am? I also think the Heed was over-hyped, but that's a separate issue. What headphones were you using? It's not great with 650s, that's for sure, but has done decently with most everything else I've tried. @op, enjoy your opera. If there comes a time you might want to try out something different, you will.
  9. Hey...I like my Heed! It's really one of the best little amps out there for under $400 (I paid $340 new), can drive the more difficult headphones like K340 easily, has a small footprint, and after Thrice tweaked it a little (changed the cord and threw blackgates in the power supply), it's sq to dollar value is about the best I've heard if you aren't a DIY person (yet). It's not the greatest amp, and is a little dark, but even if it's FOTM status has waned, don't be hating on the Heed. It's good. I've yet to hear a Meier amp.
  10. Mine's in the oven now. Have a relaxing day, everyone.
  11. A third vote for either.
  12. Nice you like your AKGs, but do you like them when sober? I've heard booze is a great audio tweak.
  13. Why? I'm not saying every case, but there's more than a banned few folks that more or less begged for banning. What was that guy's name who showed up here for a minute right after getting banned there? gaguin or gaj...something. The anti-gun guy. Why would anyone want him back?
  14. troy, welcome to head-case. A lot of people seems to like the Denons. Like Dusty said, you'll find out for yourself if you're one of them. If you like them...well, you like them, and if you don't, they're popular enough that you could sell them for little loss. What other headphones have you tried?
  15. from...?
  16. As you know, I've never been above being a mooch.
  17. Very sweet looking kitty. I miss my cat. I've been thinking it's time to get another, but I'm not quite ready.
  18. I think the 580s are still around on ebay for under $200 new if you can't find a used pair.
  19. Wear, as in wearing your ass on your shoulders. Same thing. Okay, Wolfman, I'll get back with you on the books. Hopefully, I'll have more time next week to read.
  20. Like him or not, the answer is no. Your judgment, however, is questionable.
  21. Nah. The sub's big, but not table-replacement big, since I'm using the table as a temporary rack. It worked out fine until now. I'll take a pic maybe later.
