A theremin! I actually had one in my apartment in NYC for awhile! I think my ex was using it, or thinking of using it (I don't remember) on an album he was working on, and a friend of ours had been working on a documentary about it, had just gotten back from Russia where he'd been following an elderly crazy lady, Clara Somebody, who was the last great (or maybe only great) theremin player, around. I think Robert Moog had lent it to him, and somehow we had it. The documentary turned out pretty cool, now that I remember. That instrument, though, is damn near impossible to learn.

I'll wear my flame suit, too. I didn't experience any hissing with the SE530s and a Hornet on low gain. They also sounded better than when unamped, but only if you were listening closely. I'm not sure how most people listen when going portable, but I know I'm not listening critically in those rare times, and often am only half paying attention to the music. I'm doing something else and music is secondary to it. I suppose if I were still a student, going to the library etc. that would be different, but for my needs, I find my ER4Ps straight out of a nano is usually just fine. Strange I own four portable amps and just ordered another. What's wrong with me...

nevermind...

I don't think Boy George is a pacifist. Didn't he just get arrested for having some young thing handcuffed in his basement, or somesuch? Or perhaps you were thinking of a different kind of Dinsey. postjack, have fun.

Hey, this is my only non-abusive mod power action so far! If I'd moved it over to amps or general for sale, that would've been fun, but I'm not that type of gal (this week )

This topic has been moved to Sports Talk 'cos it's talking about sports stuff.

I ordered them. I like the seal of the flanges better, but the white were a bit too big for me. I've been using the Shure foamies which are fine, but it will be nice to try these out.

When it first arrived, it was dead, so I plugged in it and was listening at the same time. Nasty hum. I haven't tried since. After all this time, it just a stupid shame there are these kinds of issues. It's otherwise a really good amp, but I don't like sitting around wondering if it's going to die on me any time soon, and not be able to have it serviced.

Glad you got it, Nick. Be careful with the battery. Per the manual, it should give you 50-ish hrs up and running, but it's more like 15. Since it's never supposed to be allowed to go dead, and mine has now three times, counting when it arrived, just keep it charged. I'd send my back to Larry, except I don't know if I'd see it again, or if doing so would make a difference, since the battery's been a problem in a few. I'm waiting to see what others experience.

I listen at fairly low levels most of the time, which is what got me into the better gear in the first place. I could finally hear everything without having to turn it up. Sometimes, though....

I got this CD a couple months ago. I'm torn between really liking it and having it get too close to a corny pop feel for my tastes. I think some of my problem is with the production. I'd need to see them live to see if I'm a fan. I didn't know Alison Sudol was also an actress. She's pretty enough to do the tv thing.

The Darkvoice 336i is $275 shipped. I didn't have mine when I had my 580s, but it does well with high impedance headphones, and you can mess around with the tubes fairly easily.

He's certainly as crazy

I have a twin brother who is an amazing artist whereas I can't draw a stick figure right. You can look at pictures we did when we were two and three (yes, my mother saved them all), and there's a big difference. We we were four, we were in the same kindergarten class. I remember distinctly having to draw a picture of the state bird, flower, tree, etc. I looked over at his bird, and it looked like a bird. Mine didn't. He didn't draw any more or less than I did, but from day one it seems he had a certain talent.

What info do you have on this? I'm interested as I've never heard of it before.

uh oh...

With jp gone, who will protect you? I'll sit back and laugh, so that won't do you any good.
-
That's pretty messed up. I hope you passed on that info to Jude and/or the mods before everything went down. Who was it? Good news on the head-fi re-launch.

I want to see both. Dangit, the 13th is a Thurs and I'm working that night. I'll see what I can do. Will Susan be there? I'm up for JJ Grey and Mofro as well. Maybe SoFlaChris would want to come. I can cook dinner and you guys can come check out the Bailey.

Wasn't that at Mizner? You were up here and didn't call?

I haven't seen the Steve Miller Band since I was in high school, and that was a long time ago. I've love to see Los Lobos, though.

They are AKG part # 2955Z2601 and can be bought for around $13 each. Frank Rodriguez Sales/Parts Administrator Harman Pro North America 8500 Balboa Blvd Northridge, CA 91329 Ph: 818-920-3279 Fax: 818-920.3208 You have to be bit of a pest: calling, faxing, calling, faxing, and calling again just to get his attention, but you'll get them eventually. Someone may have an email address. I never did.

How do you experience the change? Are you sure it's not your tube amp still warming up?

I'm using the velour pads, which have a tighter fit for me. The pleather pads with the weight of the headphones and my small head, moved around a lot more for me, even if just slightly turning my head. The velour stay put better.
