All this therapist did was have him email the universities he claimed to have degrees from requesting transcripts using the therapist's email account. I guess the guy still figured he could talk his way into/out of the fact that all came back showing he didn't exist, so actually did email them.

That's what I'm afraid of finding out. I'm not a collector of stuff (maybe books) at all and I really want to get rid of at least 2/3 of my little acquisitions. Okay, this might be scary. My rig hasn't changed so much as grown into rigs. Sources: sold my Eastern Electric MiniMax for an Exemplar Denon 2900 then picked up a Lector 0.6T for fun. I got two Denon DCP-100s and gave one to Thrice. I had a 4g imod stolen from work, picked up a mint 4g ipod photo from a co-worker for $40 and sent it off to Vinnie, and while it was there, the 5g imods came out, so I got one of those instead for the extra storage, but turned out that Vinnie also modded the other one for free (I didn't even know he did that for a couple months 'til I tried it out), so I have two imods. Got a free nano with a new MacBook Pro after dropping my old MacBook Pro on the driveway one to many times. Amps: Right at the beginning of the year I sold a Darkvoice 336i and got a loaded SinglePower Extreme Platinum, which later went back to Mikhail for blackgate outs, and then went back again a second time for pre-amp outs and a secondary power supply after I picked up a FirstWatt F1 for my K1000. I picked up a Heed Obelisk integrated in my first nightmare audiogon experience (nice amp, though), and Thrice tweaked my Heed Canamp with blackgates in the power supply. On the portable side, I sold my microamp (might have been the end of 2006), and picked up a LaRocco PRII (8620) and SR-71 with the intention of selling one (yeah, right). I added a LaRocco Diablo after waiting a year, got a Rockhopper mini3, and should have my Pico next week. Gonna have an amp sell-off soon. Headphones: Bought and sold (didn't like) Proline 2500s, MS1s, Equation Audio RP-22Xs, and Stagg SHP-4500s. Bought and sold two back up stock K340s (have kept headphiled K340s). Sold Darth Beyers. Sold HD580s. Bought and kept: R10s, HD600s, ATH-ESW9, Yuin PK1, and just got the Stax SR-001 MK2 System for Christmas. Speakers: bought Cain & Cain Abbys and recently added the Cain & Cain Bailey sub Other stuff: Susnick Audio ics (on loan from tyrion), Luminous Audio Prestige speaker cables, two Cardas power cords, one PS Audio power cord (on "indefinite" load from agile_one), and one freebie Virtual Dynamics power cord. Egad. 2007 was exploratory. 2008 will be about selling off much of this stuff. The problem is that I like it all.

I understand that working method, but I'm going radical for 2008: I'm gonna to save my money, do some research, and then buy one thing. Strange, I know, but I'm feeling brave. Also, I'm going to sell off most of my gear, except the essentials (whatever those may be).

One of the patients from work years ago, a drop-dead alky (as in he's dead now), claimed to have a PhD in geology and something else from Yale AND Princeton. He'd faked documents and had actually been working for our lovely government in nuclear research for nearly 15 years and was heading some department at the time they sent him to treatment with us. Since we became overly acquainted with his lies about every other area of his life, his therapist did some research to learn he had never even received a bachelor's degree. Very smart and very scary guy.

bhjazz, I absolutely love that Coltrane/Hartman cd. Lush Life and You Are Too Beautiful are drop dead gorgeous....come to think of it, the whole album is gorgeous. I need to listen to it now. Salty, your rack definitely counts as a really nice present to yourself. I guess my Pico counts as my present to myself. Hope to have it next week.

I haven't listened to them yet. It's a bit of a dilemma as they were present from a guy I just broke up with, though we agreed to go ahead with exchanging gifts as we'd already bought them, but we didn't open them with each other. I didn't get him anything near as nice (though it was something he wanted), and I want to at least give him the option of having them back unused. He's in Puerto Rico for a few days, so I'm going to wait, though knowing what a genuinely good guy he is, he'll want me to have them as I want him to keep his present. I just don't want to take advantage of his kindness. I have to admit, though, I'm pretty excited to try them out, and if he does want them back, which I doubt, I'll buy my own from my x-mas bonus money. I'll let you all know in a few days.
