  1. I don't own the HA-02. I love my Extreme Platinum since it got tweaked and the power supply was added, but I'm a Zana Deux fan and jp#'s HD2 is as good as people say. Neil's ES-2 sounded amazing, but it was sourced with the NWO and then the R2R. Voltron's SDS-XLR is part of my fantasy rig, but my new fav tube amp was that crazy Frank Cooter DIY monstrosity. If you want to go DIY, build that thing. I think Thrice has the schematics. I believe Frank said parts would run over a couple thousand, but that's the minimal cost of any other amp mentioned here, except the HA-02.
  2. I misread that as "could you maybe put a bunch of these things in users...?" Now that's a mod to consider. I'd like to recommend a few people for trials.

    Markl Mods

Garlic and gin. You're not exactly going for a girlfriend these days, are you?
  4. Not sure who the shithead comment is directed to (markl or HA-02 people), but I liked the HA-02 quite a lot with W2002s and K701s.
  5. Read this thread late last night...early morning...and was so shocked I didn't know how to respond. Wanted to go hug my R10s. Alex, I can only echo what others have said: great rescue. That R10 rape needs to be posted front and center on every audio forum. Even if the owner can't get his money back, at least he can help prevent JenaLabs from getting more money.
  6. CanJam's getting more interesting everyday. That's beautiful.
  7. Ouch! When I first moved here from Manhattan I rode a bike until I could find a decent car for a price I was willing to pay. I was in much better shape then. Maybe I start that up again.
  8. My neighborhood tends to be high, but then driving 10 miles to where it's cheaper sort of defeats the purpose. Lately, it's been running between $3.49 and $3.62 (the highest I've seen locally).
  9. I just spent $62.58 on a tank of gas for a car! Not a truck, not a SUV, but a freaking 11-year-old Buick Regal that wasn't even on empty (okay, kinda close).

    Markl Mods

Much fluff and fury in this thread since I went to work and came back home. I don't much care if markl charges for the mods he does. If people want to pay him, that's fine by me. If people want to use what he's previous posted and do it themselves, a-okay. If people want to create their own mods, I don't much care. I thought the D5000s were good headphones, but, and as said, they're pretty flawed in ways that made me not want to own them. I spent too much time arguing with people on head-fi back when they first came out over that very thing (back when they were perfect), so I don't want to bother with that again here. I would like to hear the modded D5000. Why not? Either I'll like them or not. If I like them, good. If I don't, that's good, too. I have a very hard time believing that they are at R10's level, but I always love to be proven wrong.
  11. Looking very menacing, Nate. I'm counting the days to CanJam.
  12. Beautiful. Seeing all these nice projects the past few days makes me wish I wasn't such a no-talent klutz.
  13. Pretty cool looking. What's the actual size of it? You just reminded me that I have to post up pics of the stand you made me. I never got any good ones, but I think I'll post up what I have just so people can get an idea of how unique and beautiful it is. I'm gonna grab folks with good cameras at CanJam and get them to take a pic or two. Did you ever decide if you were coming to CanJam?
  14. Absolutely! Just think how that farmer's wife cut off the tails of those poor blind mice with a carving knife. They didn't go and change the last verse of the song to three blind non-mice, now did they. Geez, ya gotta think about these things before posting silly questions.
  15. After carefully hiding my credit cards for awhile. It looks like I'll be dusting them off soon. Thanks for the info, Al.

    Staying awake

I've gone three or four days without sleep more times than I'd like to remember, almost always due to a combo of work responsibilities colliding with school and home responsibilities and no room for mistakes anywhere. It's strange that once you cross the 72 hr mark, it's like your brain separates from your body. I would be completely lucid mentally, but not be able to get my body to cooperate (typing, etc). Strange feeling. That hasn't happened, thank god, in a long time. I still go one or two days without sleep fairly regularly, but I don't like it, and do my best to avoid it.
  17. I'm loving the Diary of the Menace, Nate. It's like tuning in to a new episode each night. It will be even better when I get to see/hear it at CanJam. X2 with Voltron on the hanging out, but I'll leave it to you guys to do the carousing. I forgot Stevieo is going to be there
  18. No worries either way. I have inside knowledge that Mike, Matt, and John are starting their own Three Stooges Amp Repair company. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to have you as their first customer.
  19. Zero problem, even when I've had multiple portables with me, like when I traveled to the MOA meet.
  20. Shredding, yep. I once had to turn back homework I'd graded that had been partially shredded by my last cat who got mad when I didn't let her out while I was sleeping. Fortunately, the kids loved it.
