Re the "Jennifer Crock" post, there's that comment that they tried to offer Scott $1000 and he refused. I suppose he could confirm that or not. I, too, thought the language was similar, but still have a hard time believing it isn't a fake. I was hanging out in Tampa with a group of friends all weekend that could care less about headphones, but were actually following that thread for entertainment. I'd opened it only to show them the pictures of my cat, since I had none with me, and they started reading all of it, and kept going back to see what happened next. Btw, five of them own very successful businesses and were appalled at JenaLab's behavior.

Monkeyman, I'd wait until CanJam to buy. Surely they'll be a pair there somewhere. I'm actually curious to hear them again, with the pads not reversed this time. I'm not looking for more headphones, so, for me, it will strictly be a matter of seeing how far off my initial impressions were due on my own silliness in not checking to see what was wrong when it was clear something was wrong.
-
Ooops. I said I was leaving that thread, but that was before I got the pm. maybe he's always drunk.
-
Now he's crying victim. I guess he's not responsible for anything he says or does either. http://www.head-fi.org/forums/4133405-post242.html

I suspect he's just a stupid guy that emailed Jena, who has already clearly demonstrated their willingness to be stupid in the matter (further evidenced by the fact they emailed him back after he probably asked them about the thread and/or Alex's site), and then posted it up, probably without their permission in haste and in order to look important (both connected/not connected with Jena, but first to be in the know and all so sage about being impartial, blah blah).

Here's a pm I just got from morph201 on HF: I would appreciate it if you went back to head-case instead of trolling here. What's the matter? Head-Case forum is too boring for you now?
-
Congrats, Cankin. I've never been able to hear what those sound like though I've tried a couple times. It seems they're made for big-headed folks. I literally had to hold them up to my ears, even after adjusting the headband. Not good
-
Even better. You can be two shills. I like how this is going. Ivan will be in training for Reks's speaker recable all day today. Amp repair and mods is sure to follow, but he's really a cable sort of guy, so I'll hold off on taking over the whole industry for a short while at least.
-
No outsourcing needed. We're up and running. JenaLab's got nothing on Puss N Boom's Audio. Here's Ivan, my chief technician, getting down to work on a pristine pair of R10s after only one day of training! He's a go-getter, than one. Sad that I could only get an action shot with my phone (lost my camera again) as I would otherwise post up detailed pics of his fine work. I do, however, need a shill or two to bring in the happy customers. Interested in 5% commission for the first 10 customers, 10% if you bring in more than 20?
-
Nope. I'll just leave him with some work to do while I'm away. I'm sure he'll find some cables lying around while I'm gone. Oh, and about recabling your speakers, he's almost ready for that level of work, but I'd need to have them in house for a few months to make sure the jobs done right. Feel free to ship them to me any time. Sure they can. It's called neutering. It repaired all his flaws. EDIT: grawk beat me to it.
-
Congrats, Nate! I think your table is near mine at CanJam, so I hope to get in some good listening.
-
If that is true, Puss N Boom's Audio has two competitors already: APureSound and JenaLabs. I better get cracking. Anyone want me to recable your R10s? The cat has already practiced his skills on ibuds so he's experienced by now. gallimaufry, welcome to head-case. Cute handle, btw.
-
Does anyone know who at Jena actually does the recabling work? Jennifer? Al's right that the story is full of holes, but since Jena's not probably stupid enough to respond publicly, morph201's email is all that will be there to pick apart. His involvement, though, should be picked apart. Even if assuming the best, which is near impossible to believe, that as a concerned R10 owner who had already sent in his cans to Jena, he wanted an explanation and emailed them, I still smell a rat by his posting anything at all. Any other possible explanation enters in Team Rat territory. On a positive note, I have returned from a thankfully short and painless lunch, and my co-workers all agree that I would be excellent at not repairing a thing, and even better at causing damage to items not yet requiring repairs, almost without trying (my boss was a little too happy to agree with this one). The rest, such as charging outrageous sums and denying responsibility for my "work" are easily acquired skills. Where's my MOT status? Puss N Boom's Audio is open for business.
-
Excellent. The cat is practicing on a stick as I type. I'm off to to work for an annoying mandatory luncheon honoring someone I don't like. I'll start my marketing there.

I thought all Stax were yours

Here's the stretch: Jena had already been sooo insistent about their thoroughness when testing testing and hearing hearing the headphones after receiving them the first time. If you've received R10s with a damaged voice coil, wouldn't top-notch (as they portray) experts pick up on that? A damaged voice coil seems to have sounded like perfection to them the first time around. Even if true, which I doubt, that alone would expose their ignorance. And damn, I've cranked my R10s to deafening volumes just for fun a few times, but considering the owner's gear list and knowledge of gear, saying he exposed them to DC current or listened loud enough to wake the neighbors is a claim of desperation. My goodness. What a great business opportunity for me! I, too, can't repair squat, but can certainly open things up, look around, play with wires or let my cat do the work and call it a repair. I even learned to solder a bit. I suck at it, but now I know I'm not responsible for my or my cat's repairs. What should my company name be? How much should I charge? This is exciting. I might just get that new car I've been talking about for years. I'm not quite sure I understand what they mean liability for the further repair after admitting they did the "repair" which created the damage. Gonna make my cat start paying for his food. He's my chief technician. I tried to wake him up just now to tell him, but he bit my toe. Testy tech guys.

I'm glad the owner wrote things out simple and plain without and huff and puff. I'm curious if the thread will be allowed to stay since JenaLabs will surely claim libel, and if the lawyers around here could clarify things, wouldn't that put head-fi in danger of a suit if they choose to take that route? What the heck is morph201 doing emailing them about the situation, and his little comment to Earl about it is is business and that's all YOU need to know or somesuch powerplay hooey? And more importantly, why the heck would JenaLabs, as he claims, email him their side of the story in detail? That's pretty unethical just to top the whole mess off. If you've got a beef with a customer, you shouldn't exactly be emailing derogatory specifics to random folk unless digging deeper holes in your thing. If the thread stands, I hope the morphfool posts the email if only to give the R10 guy a chance to see what Jena's saying to other people. If his name was used at all, he should fry them. On a good note, did anyone catch this?: "I also own an SDS-XLR as well as am about to take possession(after CanJam) of Mikhails crowning acheivement: an ES2 mercury rectified 24 tubed power supply." More goodies for CanJam.
-
The 780s deserve JenaLabs! That would be the right thing to do.
-
All good folks to be hearing from. I'm interested in what you'll have to say.
-
I put in a request to hear post a few days ago. So far, no responses. I don't know if anyone is bringing them. Is nikongod coming or not? I don't remember. Didn't he do the mod or version of it?

800$ budget for a Headphones/Amp/DAC (Help the newbie)
boomana replied to Cujo's topic in Headphones
I like the pico with my 600s, though not so much with the 650s, but as has been said before, I'm a bit of a snob about these and somewhat spoiled. I've never heard it with the 701s. I'd still get the pico if I were you, though reports of the Duet intrigue me. You can branch out to other amps later, but still keep the pico for the dac and as a portable. -
You still can I'd be willing to call in as your therapist (I finally completed my clinical hours and I'm still the queen of bullshit) and let your boss know that the workshop you've been required to attend would not be in your best interest at this time. You'd be protected by Federal law, and I'm sure we have enough ammo to blackmail deepak into a medical excuse if needs be. Get that plane ticket!
