  1. But the point, at least for me (sorry, grawk, if not your point) is that the true beauty in living is getting to have all of it, the gut-wrenching depths and heights giving definition to each other and shading everything in between. I sure don't go looking for pain, emotional or otherwse, but when it happens, I welcome it as any other friend. Reks, big congrats on the job, and Dan, sorry, again, about Loki. Reks, there's a real interesting book around by a Portugese neuroscientist, basically connecting brain science with Spinoza, and separating the feeling mind from the emotional mind. I think you'd like it. I'll get back with you later when I'm not on my phone. As for today, I got to one airport at 4:30 am, got on a plane, hung around another airport, got on another plane, and am now stuck waiting in a steamy parking garage for someone to help me with my very dead battery...ugh. Since cables won't work on my car, this might prove to be a royal pain...double ugh.
  2. I'm doing a lot of nothing. Woke up in Michigan, watched the Red Wing's parade with my dad, helped put bedskirts on beds with my mother, and have waiting to pick my brother and his kids up from the airport, but his plane's delayed. Thinking a nap might be nice. All the relatives are coming over tonight for a bbq.
  3. Bob Seger's band played at my cousin's high school prom, and I saw him at a couple local bars in the mid 70s. He always did good shows, but I never saw him in a Stadium. Grand Funk Railroad also used to do bar gigs around Flint when not on the road, but just for fun. Back then, you could be famous, or close, and still do that sort of thing, and also just hang out, drink beer and play darts. As far as the Eagles go, I like a couple songs, but ugh to the rest. I suspect you'll then hate much of what pleases me most. I have a strong liking for messy, sloppy, raw, nasty, and very loud music, as long as it's well done, of course.
  4. Sticky Fingers, Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Exile on Mainstreet...I'm an unashamed Stones fan, minus what happened to them in the 80s.
  5. Vorlon1 sent me a bunch of her live stuff. Loved her voice, hated the song choices. If I can remember what I did with the disc, I'll send it on to you.
  6. egad...it is like my job. Good thing I don't have HBO.
  7. What is that? It sounds like my job.

I'm liking your current sig, Mr. Sandwich
  9. Nate, though I don't envy your weekly mowing routine, that's one beautiful yard.
  10. I had Darth Beyers and quite liked them for what they were, but was never expecting them to be anything other than fun phones, and they were fun when I was in the mood. When I was teaching middle school, I even kept them there for awhile, and let the kids listen if they got done with their work early. They were fun, closed cans that were pretty, and really changed character with 6528 tubes, opened up quite a bit. If I'd been expecting them to be other (good all-rounders, reference cans, etc), I would also have been disappointed, but nothing I had ever read about them said they would be anything close to that. I enjoyed the when I had them, and sold them when the fun was gone.
  11. Nice thread. Can't believe it was his first birthday party in 90 years! He was certainly due. I'm heading out of town this week for my parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary party. There will be a boatload of crazy family all around, and hopefully, some sane friends to keep things fun. Some old folks know how to party.
  12. Damnit, I'm warm and welcoming. What the hell's wrong with these people?
  13. I've heard better speakers than my Abbys, and they definitely need a sub, but I have no idea what you're saying here. I'm listening to them now, and that comment makes no sense to me.
  14. Vegan Pizza from Pizza Fusion. Most vegan pizza tastes lousy. This one is very good: eggplant, fresh garlic and onion. My breath is probably awful, and my belly is huge from eating too much, but I'm very happy
  15. As a Lemmy fan, I find all those people talking away in that teaser to be very annoying.
  16. Hope you're feeling okay. I've done nothing today except shower, coffee, chat a bit, and email inquiry about a cute vintage dress I was liking online. So far so good
  17. Only the extra large ones, and they're a bit pricey
  18. Ooops. I now see others found them before. Wasn't exactly following this thread. Nevermind.....
