  1. DWU/DUI is a mandatory suspension around here as well and taken pretty seriously, though you'd be surprised how folks can slide through the legal system. It's not uncommon where I work to see people with 8 DUIs still with their licenses. As to the guy not getting a ticket in my above post, there were lots of witnesses, but all of them just kept driving on. Things to do, places to be, I imagine. But it's happened to me since them and with witnesses. The last accident I was in, and my car totaled, I was rear-ended near a busy intersection. My car was sent spinning up a small hill and finally crashed into a fence surrounding the play area at a McDonalds. I was pinned in, and a lot of people came to help. Not only was it obvious what had happend (the rear of my car had been pushed into the front seat and the guy's car had no front end anymore), all witnesses reported what they had seen. Still, he got no ticket because the officer said he hadn't witnessed it. Fortunately, he wrote out the police report accurately, so it wasn't really an issue when the insurance companies and lawyers got involved.
  2. Most states have a similar law, but I'm not sure it's enforced. We don't have that law in Florida, but then it seems it wouldn't matter much anyway. We have a real problem in my area with folks driving with no license or insurance. My neighbor just killed a pedestrian in a hit and run. She left the scene because her license had been suspended. I've seen her in her car pretty much daily for years, so that suspension didn't mean a thing. One of the people who hit me had a suspended license, and the cop didn't even give him a ticket, saying he couldn't because he hadn't seen the accident.
  3. ooooh....how did I miss this thread. I actually know this one: Closed portable: ESW9s. First choice of all my recommendations except UE11s as I plan on becoming a shill for them. Open: PX100s - decent for the bucks. SR60 - my second headphone. sounds quite good out of an ipod, so much so that my boss swiped them. Buds: PK1 with an amp. PK3 without (I've never heard the PK2) IEMS: Ety ER4P/S -- I loved these and had them for years thinking I'd never replace them, but had to mess around with different tips until I got it right. Shure 420s or 530s. Don't bother with the lower models. Sleek SA6. I really liked these for the few minutes I heard them at CanJam. UE11s if you're willing to spend some bucks. I unabashedly admit to loving these.
  4. Fuel filter...oh...and a soda while I waited for it to be put in.
  5. I had and liked the 336 with my K340s and a few new tubes, so it has the powah, as you say. I've never heard an ortho in my life, so I have no idea how they might match up. Never heard the figaro. After being all bitchy in a Little Dot thread on head-fi today, I have learned that they sure have devotees and I know they are cheap. Don't know about their power thing. They've powered more than a few idiots, that's for sure, but might still be worth checking into.
  6. I like how the guy politely closes the door at the end of the video like it matters at all. Sorry, Justin 'bout the accident. As for women drivers, I've been hit four four times in Florida, minding my business at stop lights, stop signs, etc, once as a pedestrian, walking in the crosswalk in Manhattan, and once in Michigan in an intersection when someone left turned into my car. Only the Michigan driver was female. The rest were all men under age 25.

    slow forum

That and ninja cat were pretty wonderful
  8. ojnihs, what the heck is in your avatar? It looks like a guy ripping packing tape with his teeth and taco shells in his hands.
  9. Didn't notice, but then really didn't look.
  10. Must have been a reviewer that had lost hearing in the upper registers. The shrieking highs of the 880s and the screaming sibilance of the Proline 2500s didn't phase him a bit.
  11. Did some work, ate some food, posted some nonsense, and am considering cleaning my messy house.
  12. Not true. We're engineers! That should be implied in everything we do.
  13. Nope, this thread is right on track. We're playing the same game as the subject of this thread: Do You Want To Be An Engineer! Yes, I do
  14. That's it! ooohhh.....I have a white lab coat, too (won't say why) and I can look the part of a professional engineer in something lab-like. Aren't you a doc? That should more than impress when slapping your name and credentials on "scientific" studies.
  15. Ah, Stealth Industries. That's has a nice ring to it.
  16. We can go into business together! Though Topedo and Boom Industries might need a name change.
  17. And just like that, I'm a MOT.

    sup.

I thought morphsci completed you. You are never satisfied.
  19. I can solder. I made a robot with eyes that blink.
  20. That's right! As an engineering student, I am now able to say that I'm an engineer. I feel more qualified than ever to note what's wrong: It must be the alleviation of perceived issues with the presentation of warm neutrals in the air and staging of classic details and extension that needs to be worked on while leaving alone the smooth and open, lively, yet punchy sound with sparking highs that does no wrong! Damn, this engineering is good stuff. Why didn't anyone tell me about it before?
  21. I am currently in UE11-land. Since I'm sending them back for adjustments, I've been listening to them almost exclusively so as to be able to tell them what needs doing. Sadly, I have no idea how to express what I'm feeling and what needs to be done
