Which one of you guys has a decent camera? I doubt my iphone will do the trick. I wonder if my power supply is a couple wall warts.

Sorry, Pars. I went through the same experience a couple years ago. It broke my heart and I still miss her.

So I was planning on retiring my SP/R10 rig from meets, since I'm both lazy and also don't want to move it more than necessary. However, Colin mentioned the possibility of opening it up there, and I'd welcome that opportunity, so I might consider bringing it. If I did, what the heck things would I need to buy/bring to do the job? I own a hammer, a wrench, a drill and a couple screwdrivers. Though that might be fun, I'm looking for suggestions that might allow me to continue using the amp after the meet.

Shelly, my UE11s are a light blue and I love the color. The only reason I didn't get the same was that I...well...didn't want the same.

When I was doing my obsessive weekend research a couple weeks ago, I ran into this on some site, and the reviews were along the lines of "it looks pretty but doesn't sound pretty."

God, I hate that soap. A kazillion years ago when I lived in CO in a house with 13 people and a sweat lodge in the backyard, that soap was used for everything, from laundry to dishes to people to washing the dog. I can't even stand the smell of peppermint anymore. Yuck.

Cool dad. I didn't see Bowie until the early '80s in Detroit. Didn't see Iggy perform until the late '80s or early '90s in NY. He lived on my block in Manhattan, though, and even if not the same as watching him on stage, he looked exactly as you would think he did just walking down the street. The poster pic didn't show up on my work computer. Thought the pic was pulled. Glad it was just my computer.

Nice poster for the office. EDIT: Looks like they took the picture off their website after I bought it. It was an Iggy Pop poster from a 1980 Detroit show.

Well, I have yet to get any art up on the walls.......

Reminding me of a crazy guy I knew in Boulder eons ago. He legally changed his name to Boulder Jesus, but then upgraded to AAA God. He lived in a tepee outside of town and occasionally liked to dress himself in only honey and run through the outdoor mall. He was an old guy, but fast on his feet.

I met a gay vampire once. It was at a party about 20 years ago. I wonder what ever happened to him.

The Lambda Pro sounds quite decent in my rig. I'm also a fan of the Koss, but I've heard it with a BH and a KGSS so I'm not sure what it sounds like in other systems. My only recommendation to the op is to upgrade from light jazz to real jazz. That will offer you the best improvement to your listening.

Yes, headphones are rather limiting. I'm branching out. They were flush when I started out, and I even had them slightly forward at one point. I was trying out a bunch of things, and that was the I-give-up last stand in the pic. I think the A2s just have limitations that even slight tweaking won't really change. I might bring in my Denon pcdp just to see if the source makes a difference, though I won't be bringing in cds daily, that's for sure. If I keep to certain music (not bassy or complex), they really are very okay. I've just decided to like them, and not focus on what's not likable. drp, you're setup looks quite nice, though the cinder blocks, painted or not, wouldn't fly at my workplace. I think I'll revisit choices in a few months. For now, I'm just going to accept things the way they are.

I've read good things about it, but I'd really need to hear anything at this point before spending money. That was one I was trying to hear when I went out looking as I heard some Best Buys have or used to carry it, but not mine. Anyway, I tried books today, first a small stack then a tall stack then a medium stack. I also tired different angles, and the upshot of all this fiddling is that they basically they sound pretty much the same. I have a better attitude about them today. For small speakers a couple feet in front of me with an ipod source, they sound okay. I'll just take a few months, save up some money, do some real research and get something later. Maybe it's a good thing. If I liked them better, I might be paying too much attention to music instead of working. They do solve the problem of having to listen to the annoying hallway music, which was the whole point in the first place. Anyway, for those who think my desktop was rather neat, here's a pic of what it really looks like: Though the selection of random stuff changes from day to day, it's pretty much filled with papers and mess. Oh, and the speakers are back in their original stands.

Egad, that's way too bouncy to not cause some kind of brain damage. I'm worried for you, Stretch.

That's exactly what I was going to do, just to try things out, except I hadn't gotten so far as to think about covering with fabric. Thanks, Brent.

Has anyone talked to stevieo?

Seems to me I'd just said that I was going to investigate raising them I'm just not willing to spend $500 doing that as I'd rather spend that money getting better speakers. Adding absorbing materials may tame the mid bass, but it won't change the other things that bug me, so again, although they're not bad speakers, and better than the one-box solutions I'd listened to, they annoy me, so I'm just going to look for something I like rather than piddle around with something I don't.
-
Yah, I know about those, Brent, but can't see spending $500 on stands right now for speakers I don't even like that much. I will investigate raising them up off my desk a bit more, but I'm thinking that I'll just live with them as is until I can research some better options and save some money up to get what will please me for a long time.
