  1. I'm not sure I'd call it a tear, but they damn sure wanted to be in the playoffs. If they can keep it up, things might get interesting, but they just don't seem to have the fire this year. They didn't even really have it consistently during the cup games. I'll remain hopeful, but....
  2. Well, the Panthers are officially not in the playoffs again. I watched Tampa Bay beat them easily today. It's sad when the local sportcasters can't even say anything good. The Wings have been blech all year, so my teams aren't doing it, that's for sure.
  3. I went to a local store. I'm just noticing that they're slightly tight in the right big toe and two small toes. The other toes have plenty of room, and I think having a little more room wouldn't change the overall fit, and be generally more comfortable. This is the Classic style. My Performa Janes are fine. I just wore these to Costco and walked around for about two hours, then out into rain and puddles. They were very comfortable and the only thing weird is that you really notice temperature changes of the floor/ground. The guy selling tires wanted to know where I got them as his boxing coach had told him about them for training.
  4. I'm reviving this thread because I picked up two pair of the Five Fingers yesterday, the Classic and the Performa Jane, both in black, after trying them on and loving them. I went to the gym today in the Classics and found that they really helped me do things I wasn't doing well at all, like balancing on the bosu (or whatever it's called) ball while trying to do squats and shoulder presses. My feet could just grab on. I couldn't do that in my regular shoes. On the not-so-good front, I also whacked my little toe climbing off the exercise bike, and that whole "just like being barefoot" thing was evident and not fun. I'm still not sure about wearing these out in public, and I think I probably should have gone one size larger (they're tight), but overall am glad I got them.
  5. My toes are all fairly small and straight. I can't imagine how these would work on anyone with oddly shaped or large toes. It's a tight squeeze. My little toe on my right foot is a bit curved after years of walking wrong on it, and it's a bit uncomfortable, but I'll take that discomfort over how most shoes feel every day on my feet. Too bad these won't be accepted as appropriate office attire.
  6. I just went to a running shoe store, but they didn't really have anything that would work for me, as usual, in my size. I went to a store across the street ended up with two pair of Vibram Five Fingers, which was the last thing I thought I'd ever buy. I'd seen some thread here, thought they were just too bizarre for me, but since the store had them, I couldn't resist trying them on. Other than they're completely freaky looking, I loved them the minute I put them on my feet, and walked out the store with them on. I hate shoe shopping more than any kind of shopping because I cant walk in 95% of shoes. I bought the only two pair they had in my size, the classic and the performa (this one is for indoor use only), both in black. I may look weird, but my feet haven't been this happy in years.
  7. Definitely! Good to hear from you. How long will you be there this time?

    Canjam 2010.

I put in for vacation days on Friday. Hoping to find out on Monday. I'm due vacation days, have my groups covered, and have been lately/will be covering for others five times this coming month, but that doesn't mean they'll give me the time off. It just seems mood and timing anymore when it comes to giving days off. I ended up having to sell days last year because I couldn't use them. Keeping fingers crossed. I put in for extra days, so if they don't give me the whole thing, maybe I can negotiate for Thursday - Monday.
  10. Good luck, Stephan, and big congrats to MD!
  11. I had a pet raccoon for a short time when I was in 5th grade. Being a kid and not very original, I named him Bandit. I have no memory of where he came from, but he hung out with us, went for walks on a leash, and was very domesticated, though he had his own room where he hung out during the day. My parents got sick of doing all the work taking care of him, so we gave him away to this old couple that lived in the woods and already had raccoons, deer, and an owl as pets.
  12. This was one of the first things I noticed, and still can't figure out, but enjoy. Some of Dan's live tapes are my favorite and I listen to them frequently.
  13. Happiest of birthdays to you!
  14. Naaman, be well and safe, and Dan's suggestion is a great one.
  15. Congrats, Todd! It's been a long time coming. Nate, what disturbing plans are you talking about?
