Personal opinion is that it's kind of silly not to wait to do a simultaneous mac/linux release. -

Yes sir.. a redhead from Little Bird Rumor services! Nah, Justin has been working on it off and on in between Pico shipments and the BHSE and what not. Prototype due soon or so sayeth the word on the street (Aka Justin/Headamp). There are other decentish dacs in the ~1k range... the PS Audio Digital Link III thing isn't bad. I think what you need to pin down is if you are looking for a rich feature set or just the best possible sound quality possible and if small size buys points with you or not. If you are looking for the best possible sound quality possible then I'd get a vintage dac. If you want something small but sounds well better than a Lavry imo I'd get a pico. If you really need that insane feature set... I dunno what the PS Audio does besides making sound but uh a Benchmark DAC1 has a lot of features... but i wouldn't buy it for its sound. And some people like Grawk feel the Apogee Duet is worth buying a mac mini for. I haven't heard it yet but it also has a pretty sick feature set or should considering it does ADC too... but eh I don't personally need that feature Oh and supposedly it sounds great too.

There's gonna be an rca out dac only pico for 349 out sometime in the near future. It will be difficult to compete with that under 1000 without looking at vintage dacs. There are things that do though they are at the ~1000 price range and not anywhere near the 349 price ;p

Yeah Nongshim Shin Ramyun is a staple as far as package ramen goes... though I can't eat that filth anymore after having spent some time in Japan and pratically eating Ramen every day with some instances of Kokoichi curry... A good bowl of Tonkotsu broth, great noodles and some excellent tender chashu/stewed pork is one of the best meals imaginable. While locally I both dig Santa Ramen (For the excellent Tonkotsu broth and high level in general) and Ryowa for their corn ramen (While this place doesn't really have the rep or taste of Santa Ramen their noodles are very appealing),, I can sadly at best only rate the finest US ramen a ~6. The best thing about Japan is the sheer insane density of ramen shops there.. it's like if you turned every coffee shop in america into a ramen place it'd be comparable to that. Literally every 4 minutes any direction by foot you'll run into a place. Even though the Chinese invented the shit... they certainly haven't taken the mastery to the level the Japanese have. Though to be fair their vein of ramen is very different and they have their own myriad masteries... beef noodle for one. Agh. Long story short. Ramen shop ramen is seriously a good meal and I could live for awhile in Japan eating ramen/curry every day and going to live shows/festivals and buying cds. I did that for awhile in 05 and I want to do it again... sadly I am no longer a student and work Maybe if I do business school or something. Also seafood is filthy and not to be eaten.

Yeah that sounds a little like magic.

Yeah I've tried that single ended and I didn't like it very much, but I think we are going for different sorts of sounds. That combo to me was lush and full but not very resolving with note edges fuzzy... but maybe it's a different story balanced.
-
I like 2c51s for input and 6bl7 gt/gtas in the output. That was the only complement that I reallyyy liked with the Qualias. They are very solid statey phones. Interesting that you notice such a difference between single ended and balanced with them. I did not notice a huge diff. Me and Craig did some tests at the last meet and he concurred. Of course we both believe that mainly only with hd650s is there a change. Yeah I usually don't really foot tap with them but its because they mercilessly draw me into the music where I am just in a constant state of awe at the resolution I'm getting. I am so enthralled that I can barely do anything else but listen on edge. It does take me about 15 minutes of listening to really get into the sound though. It's not a relaxing headphone at all. It's brutal.

ive tried tomato and dd-wrt and I like dd-wrt infinitely more. It has an infinitely richer feature set than either tomato or stock firmware. I'm sticking with dd-wrt for now. I had an issue where it ate hard shit but after a day it started working again. I talked to my network engineer buddy and he says at the consumer level no matter the brand routers are pretty much shit and not made to last. He advocates setting up a box for routing duties, but eh... I think the two big features I use with dd-wrt is allowing computers to connect wirelessly by adding their mac address to a list and boosting the wireless signal. The latter is especially badass.

NKOTB - TTVJ/Millett 307A Headphone Amp

How were the Parasound JC-1 monos? I've been thinking about getting a JC-1/JC-2 combo. What did they do better and what did they do worse? -
If someone is thinking about driving from norcal to socal and I can mooch a ride I'm interested ;p

beta24 isn't really for headphones

Yeah I threw in another 4 tomatoes and some avacado tastes pretty decent. I need to dice a little bit better though.

Meh I am a beast of spicy food eating. I partake of habanero fare all the time :/ But this salsa with corn chips I need a class of milk to eat a bowl of ;p
-
I think the key crux of the problem is that I left in a large quantity of seeds which apparently cause much spiciness. Basically though if I had to do this over again I would add more tomato since with two limes this is too limey and some tomato would mellow the fuck out of it. Probably less seeds too.
-
I have failed. My salsa is too spicy for any man and I didn't even put in any habanero. I did put in 6 serranos and 3 jalapenos to a cup and a half of white onion, one avocado, 4 not very big tomatoes, 2 limes, some green onion. (There weren't these crazy rotel tomatoes)

Speaking as someone who owned a Rudistor RP010 who has also heard a Gilmore Reference (Iron Dreamer's), that Gilmore Reference is definitely a worthy purchase

As long as he isn't like that guy with 20,000 dollars of power cords for his 2,000 source/amp/headphones system.
-
Yeah he mentioned when I asked him at the San Mateo meet he was going to do a more portable dac then a high end one.

that's perhaps true. i thought i saw another 1-2 at ~that price but as I don't have a mac I haven't really kept tabs.
