It can quite possibly be better. People talk a lot of smack about USB and who knows what happens in conversion. Maybe someone with the tech know-how can comment on this...

Sonic Frontiers/Assemblage are essentially gone. All those dacs we discussed are vintage and so very few (If any) of them have USB input. If that is a criteria then they aren't suitable.

Shrug there's a reason Sony doesn't make tube based headphone amps. Sure i'm sure there is a happy medium, but frankly Craig isn't in this to make money. Not at the prices he charges for what he delivers. It has to be rewarding for him in more respects than just monetary and not dealing with a suit might be one of those.

Yeah while the situation is confusing to me. It's not something I can't begrudge the man. He is on a quest for excellence and I am willing to wait and see and invest in what comes out of that quest. Craig is talking about a transformer coupled "Zana Deux T" I forget what the T stands for but basically it'll sound much like the Nautilus which is a balanced transformer coupled 6c33 amp. He said he just got word about Electra Print partial silver transformers which he will be using with it. Amp will be 2500 and can theoretically be converted to use any of the tubes that the Balancing Act can use. Sounds like this will be a regular line. Very exciting. "Give Min a call and ask him if you can borrow the Nautilus for awhile. That amp will sound almost exactly the same as the new ZDT, which is the balanced transformer coupled version of the Zana Deux. I am running them now for $2500.00 which includes the tubes, and wooden shipping crate." Rather: "I just got off the phone with Jack from Electra-Print. He can make me a partial silver output transformer that would work on the ZD chassis with the same choice of output tubes as the BA. I could build this amp for $2500.00, so all is not lost if you miss out on this run of BA's. This is my model ZDT and I am running them with this run of ZD's." The Aficiando did not have a power supply present so it was not hooked up. The question of which is a better sounding amp has yet to be decided. Also he does not expect to get the transformers for the Aficionado for a few more weeks. It will be priced at 4k.

Pretty good but perhaps not as good as his previous trilogies. For the like 5th time. His only really good book imo. Excellent offering from the Malazan universe.

Interesting how Mr. Grado has such a large personal supply that he consistently has one available to ebay but is unwilling to consider rereleasing the headphone. Perhaps he is under a contractual obligation not to... but I mean he knows first hand in the most direct way possible that there is a thriving market for the headphone that his reluctance to release a successor headphone feels almost like he is purposefully driving up the price.

Agh! Just when I thought I was done. Based on my experiences with current production headphones I feel that AT has come through for me the most (Though I bow to Stax as the #1 in production headphone company right now) followed by a close tie between Sennheiser/AKG. Therefore I have high hopes.

Sounds like a pretty interesting dac. Quite pricey though. Might pick one up in the future if they start hitting audiogon at used prices.

Yeah I'm really sad studio 60 is gone. I am a huge West Wing fan. I don't think necessarily studio 60 is as good as the 4 sorkin seasons of West Wing (I only recently found out that he didn't have a hand in the latter ones, the ones where my interest starting waning)... but it is very good. I think a problem many people have is that sorkin kinda sucked at writing sketch comedy which is a critical component of making people feel immersed in the sketch comedy studio experience. Actually I am not a fan of sketch comedy so I couldn't really tell if he sucked at it or not, but I'm told he did. What I liked about the show and Sorkin in general is intelligent characters with good witty humor and great dialogue/chemistry. There was that in spades

Oh it's by the six feet under guy? I watched the first two. It is okay I guess, doesn't really blow me away. Lots of good TV around right now, but I am super anticipating the return of Breaking Bad I think that's my favorite new series in 2008 (New to me). That and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip which for sure isn't 2008.
