  1. Yeah singlepower amps are kinda microphonic. Can definitely hear a ping when you tap the sides of any of their amps that I've ever owned.. except for the SS-1.
  2. Another problem might be the laptop. Barf. I mean I know you had a beta22 that probably was also revealing of its flaws, but I have a Lenovo and even with the lineout the sound quality is hideously shitty and had a high amount of floor noise hiss with every amp I've ever tried.
  3. Happy Birthday.
  4. Welcome back.
  5. The only thing that might be nicer is the Joshua Tree 100 stepper but at that point it is so smooth feeling that it feels closer to a pot than a stepped attenuator. Of course that isn't a bad thing
  6. I'm running two seasonic 600watters in my two machines and I'm pretty pleased with them. Solid power supplies.
  7. Beautiful I am almighty envious of the dual 45 stepper. Trust me you would not have liked the 23 stepper. I had that 45 stepper in my SDS and it was perfect really. I hope to put those in my ss-1 one day when I have the spare cash. Ha yeah the takeout box is just what they have in Google cafes it really works perfectly as tube packing material. Sadly I forgot to grab a couple for riceboy's tubes but I found some small boxes that worked as well or better. Those metal base output tubes look hot as shit
  8. I hope that catchphrase is already his title.
  9. Only 7k for a 65 inch laser tv.. might have to do it.
  10. Yeah Sony always seems the best but for the buck I'm more looking at Sharp and Samsung. Yeah Mitsubishi was supposed to have a laser tv out q3 but I haven't heard shit... I figure its going to be 3-5 years for that shit to be priced at where I'd want it to be..
  11. Hrm interesting. Alrite I might pick that up.
  12. Alrite I'll probably keep my eye on that tv and see if it takes further. Looks like it's pretty much what I'd want... I could live without the touch of red but any other 120hz/52" seems to be more expensive with out it.
  13. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN52A650-52-Inch-1080p-120Hz/dp/B001413DF8/]Amazon.com: Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color: Electronics[/ame] I'm strongly thinking about getting this tv. Is there a better brand/model? Like the Kuros people keep talking about? Also when do people predict the price reaching optimal? Black Friady or past?
  14. Blue lightsabers had 2x the sonic potential of red lightsabers. True story.
  15. Nice blessingx. Btw I forget if I've asked this before, but its still relevant since I don't have a bluetooth headset but... anyone got a recommendation for one?
  16. Ahhh been awhile since I've read one of these
  17. He says next Saturday works so lets do that. Shoot me a pm with your email and we'll coordinate.
  18. Ha well maybe we should just meet up at Neils sometime soon and figure this out? I'm going up to Alex Peychev's this weekend so its no good for me.. picking up my Esoteric DV60 unmodded/untouched to resell to recoop my initial investment and Neil's HE60s.
  19. Ha.. just the thought of it having the PMD200 made me think about buying it. And i remembered separately that Neilvg had one of those that he used in his studio so I emailed him last night after posting and asked if he would be interested in selling it. Well if you don't buy it I probably will as Neil is a good friend and local.
  20. Yeah I dunno I haven't heard it but it has 4x PCM1704 so unless Esoteric is rocking a completely shit design then it has vastly more potential than your usual 1k dac (I.e. the ones that Iron Dreamer named). Of course you run the risk of it being a completely shit design and you'll have to find someone to mod it that actually knows what they are doing (Not particularly easy) that is willing to work on it/and or has experience with the player (Given it's age extra not easy). Still the D70 does move generally so you can probably sell it though it might not be as straight forward as moving a Benchmark or a Lavry... of course the economy is shitty so who knows. Based on my experience looking at the UX-1 I'm looking at great DAC chips... meh I/V but at least not passive I/v... and a shitty generic analog output stage but one that can be tweaked and a great power supply. So there is hope for my UX-1 and it helps that I like the stock sound (Though chances are you won't). Can I guarantee that the same things are in the D70? Nope. I do hope my D-3 though is along those lines though... I may get a D70 in the future though if it has a decent filter chip and an operable I/V stage and an operable analog output stage then there's a lot of potential there. P.S. Yeah massive overlap with Filburt's post... man if it does use the PMD200 though I'll have to buy one for sure then I can realize my dream of a balanced DAC that uses PCM1704s + the PMD200. Last dac I need to add to my stable... for now.
  21. Yeah might be good. I'd love to see Stephen Erikson's Malazan series done more though, but the scope of that might just be way too large. Then again they did Rome. Great to hear from you Alan. I still need to send your mini^3s back... I'll try and do that this weekend.
  22. Heehee the difference is that Qualias are first off a lighter headphone and so if they did fall to the ground it would be with significantly less force. Also it isn't made out of a super delicate wood that will nick easily and possibly drop ~500 dollars in value.
  23. Yeah I don't think its the end all be all myself, even though I had an amp tuned for it. I mean I do like it, but there's no way I would pay the going rate for it though I appreciate that there are people who will. It's just another sound to me in a world of many sounds from many different headphones. Moreover again my main reason for selling was because I couldn't hang with having 5-6k on my headphone where if I drop them they could become 0 dollars. That's just freaky. Same thing with the HE90s.. K1000s and Qualias and AD2000s any day of the week
