Unfortunately we've had a member of this group build pull out. If anybody was interested and missed out please contact me asap. This is the current estimate of cost. 240 + 120 + 120 + 100 + 300 = 880 ... this covers parts cost for transistors/sigma22 kits/sowter input transformers/power transformer and chassis. If we go with cinemags then shave about 40 bucks off that for 840. Toroid also might be 20 dollars cheaper. Okay I got an estimate from j4cbo for what's left. 200 for all the parts to the controller board and the boards themselves. 10-20 bucks each for dynafet boards (4x) and 100-150 for the passive parts and then other parts like jacks/feet/knob/power cord jack. Let's estimate that at 100 bucks (Unless you want to go fancy). 200 + 40-80 + 100 + 100 bucks = 390 - 480. This is a pretty good estimate of what's left (But not a guarantee). 1230 - 1360. Add another 100 dollars for possibly more chassis work like drilling extra holes and etching. 1330 - 1460. This is I believe a good estimate of how much it will take part wise to finish this project. So if we have 4 people in then the cost of a complete build subsidizing j4cob's parts cost is 1330/4 - 1460/4 + 1330 - 1460 = 1662.50 - 1825 for a complete build with the feature j4cob listed above. That is if we have 4 people to help subsidize. Currently we have 3. Anyway if this sounds like something you are interested in... please let me know. You have about 1 week to decide. The numbers above are no guarantee.. it may end up slightly more expensive or slightly cheaper, but should be pretty close. I've had it verified by two DIYers (Btw if the numbers seem off to anyone please let me know and I will tweak). Also if you want to drive costs down even lower you can sacrifice single ended to balanced conversion and what not. P.S. For DIYers we have 8 board/transistor sets extra for any that might be interested. This is for Kevin Gilmore's Dynafets. We got extra parts for the sake of the matching effort. If you are interested in some of these boards/transistors please let me or luvdunhill know as well!

Well with sensitive headphones (I.e. not Sennheisers) it's pretty common for amps to exhibit hiss/noise floor. With the Qualias in particular the only dead silent amp with no floor noise that I've experienced is the gilmore lite. (Presumably it's bigger brothers in the dynalo line will do this too).

Nah I have it on good authority any such pictures were merely of Justin's in packaging to test shipping weight and what not.
-
I just had him write you a quote up for 2 kits with standard options as an aid to help you decide if you want to grab a few or not. If you are not interested or already have all the information you need to come to a decision then no need for the spreadsheet
-
Okay kinda slacked on getting these out since 1. they are kind of confusing and unwieldy as excel spread sheets and 2. been real busy and sick But I need email addresses from: naamanf torpedo looser101 nate To forward you your excel spreadsheet. I think it's mostlyyy self explanatory the only confusing parts are how to deal with paypal and shipping. I thinkkk you just 0 out paypal if you aren't going pay with that and that will adjust the total and shipping is basically based on international and domestic. The larger orders (Mine) and the Spanish one is a little tricky since he had to do some guess work to determine if it'll fit so that may be off. He suggests that Looser101 go with first class instead of priority as that will equate to more like 10 bucks rather than 24.

Well I mean I've heard them both pretty extensively and I'd say there's a little bit weight/fullness to sound with the Zana Deux. That's the principal difference. There may be differences in presentation/soundstaging/imaging/dynamics but it's probably more subtle and would require a true side by side to really say and would probably vary between beta22 implementation (2/3/4 boards) and headphones.

I don't think anyone has tried it.
-
My understanding is it depends a lot on how you bias it and that's somewhat a personal choice.

He needs the money for the transistors (This covers all transistors needed for the project) which is 60 bucks per board (240 for you) + any sort of fees. If you want to pay with echeck for the flat 5 dollar fee or paper check/money order you will have to get it out today. He is more flexible with normal paypal, but he needs the money prior to monday so he can do his orders. If you need his paypal info or mailing address ill send that to you now.

Are you saying that slapping in some discrete op amps in my ish won't be like slapping a Type-R sticker on my v4 Camry??? Because that noise is like NOS^2.
-
Yeah sorry... what Luvdunhill is looking for is purely for Dynafet transistors which is separate to the sigma22 kits except in the weird Spanish situation. I'll summarize and give out all the Sigma22 related details after I get a detailed quote based on peoples' locations from Jeff. But the gist of it is you will get an exact quote including shipping based on your location and payment info for Jeff. Then you pay him based on that quote and he ships kits to you.

Got you guys (Can skip the first part that is only really pertinent to the j4cbo build). If anyone else needs his mailing address or paypal info let me know. I know casino is google proof, but Luvdunhill would prefer me not to just paste his info in here and I'm going to respect his wishes. Sorry for the extra annoyance overhead though.

Eh.. I like the writing in Breaking Bad and many other shows But it's good. Sometimes I like the writing in Friday Night Lights a lot (Something I'm watching as I type this). I'm a big Aaron Sorkin fan in general.

4u or bust sir! well maybe 3u but yeah
-
Not yet on the dimensions.. I think j4cbo said ~1 more week and we should be good to go on ordering prototypes.
-
He hasn't given me an exact quote on the bigger heat sinks yet but he says they aren't much more money so I'd assume sub 5 dollars for that upgrade. The better muse caps are an extra 2.15 (2.50 -> discount).
-
Yeah.. I'll get some exact quotes from the guy for all the features upgrades and then post an explanation regarding that.. I hope to do that by early next week latest.
-
4 boards is available I'm sure its still flexible up until luvdunhill makes the final final order.
-
60 dollars a board + additional paypal fees. If you are using bank xfer then itll be 60 dollars per board + whatever fees might happen due to a wire (Usually something like 10-30 bucks I think).
-
Okay got the okay from luvdunhill on your Carlos buddy. I will update the spreadsheet now. Btw luvdunhill is ready to start taking payment for transistors. One last detail to iron out.. if he needs money for shipping now or later. But it is going to be 60 dollars per board with paypal fees if you choose to pay that way. If you want to pay with money order or check then let me know via pm or here and I will circulate his mailing address to you. I am also checking into bank xfer for Team Spain. The deadline for payment for transistors is going to be 3/8/09 as he will make the order for the tiny heatsinks that night.
-
Aight sweet. I'll update the spreadsheet with Carlosgp's name and #s as soon as luvdunhill confirms its kosher. I am locking down my own sigma22 board order myself. I will unbold everyone's name who has not locked in sigma22 orders with me and then bold when I get address/order config details.
-
Well I might as well give him the full address now so after he writes up the quote you pay him and then he gathers and ships. If I start giving him partial address then full address then it only gets confusing for him and given that we are placing the burden of organizing shipping on him... I want to make it as unconfusing as possible so we don't end up with the wrong number of kits going to the wrong people. Yes, please just give me the address in PM. Okay well I have no problem with adding your buddy... it's more dependent on Luvdunhill. We had the numbers locked for transistors but someone backed out at the last possible second so... I think it shouldn't be a problem adding your buddy, but it's luvdunhill's call.
-
K ill ask him about those
-
Well it's an individual decision and doesn't need to be universal across the group, but I can ask him what are the largest onboard heatsinks he can get his hands on and the cost.. but i still do need to know the address you guys want this mailed to as I cannot get an accurate quote without that information.
-
Nod well have PICAudio make a decision on on board heat sinks. I also need his address... any special LED requests (If none I'll just assume.... blue!) and if you need upgraded Muse caps or not.
