I like the pattern on the top plate, reminds me of the pass f5x chassis buy a few years back
-

is the group buy including 2500s now as well? any price break? -
have these been released yet? what's the street price
-
I take it there's no need for heat sinks over the output stage then? how's the sound
-
I hope some units turn up on the used market because of mercer's review
-
that may be a good thing compared to the 800, if you take their soundstage to be somewhat artificial just my personal preference of course I think I'm interested in the elear simply because they look nice, which will definitely make them sound better to me haha
-
nice job, is the heat going to change how you case the thing?
-
nothing stopping you from posting it on headfi, this is a build thread after all
-
the inside of that amplifier looks really neat, I'm tempted and I don't even own dynamics anymore
-
No matching unless you use k170s at the input
-

is there any info on the reliability of eml tubes? kevin alluded to it in another thread but all I can find via Google is that all eml tubes have loose bases. @joamat how have the v4's been treating you?
-
yeah I'm definitely interested in building this, gorgeous
-
haha of course the guy who's got one amplifier for every headphone can say that something tells me that ratio is slightly off but I'll stick with it
-
if you need 1968s for the kgbh I have quite a few that I don't think I'll end up using , as well as populated boards
-
didn't you say you were done posting here for the Nth time
-
haha if you guys put it that way I'm convinced, doesn't take much I'm pipe dreaming here but it you might be able to squeeze the attenuator if you move the psu to a separate box. then you have the linear dps option a la Justin
-
I'd love to try my hand at building one, though it sounds a bit beyond hand tools
-
what do the meters show?

Kerry's work with foam might be a good answer to replacing what's inside the 009 pads. At the very least you wouldn't be paying 250 for a pair... I might implement a bootlegged version of this idea using old 007 foam . Thanks for the inspiration Kerry!

I don't think numerical quantification is necessarily the best approach either, more just weeding out idiocy

it's kind of a shame that new people looking at stax get fed so much misinformation, but I guess you could say that about headphones in general these days. it also seems hard for stax to get any real momentum when their product line isn't being continually updated.
