  1. post it it is, plus points for being able to steal them from the office
  2. I have a single spare channel if you can find an appropriate partner for it
  3. lots of 6s4a quads popping up on ebay, I'm assuming GE and RCA are the main manufacturers? Are Sylvania, etc. just rebrands?
  4. This would be for the 007s so I think I'll have to keep it at tape. I was wary of doing this because I figured if I used something silly like packing tape I could end up ripping the dust cover off
  5. I think mentioned this a few other times, but there's a giotto air blotter which I've used in the past. Is sticky tape reliable? I've been meaning to take my squealing pair apart to deal with some of the debris present.
  6. If you use the BH 400V should be fine, no custom transformers. I have been using the kgsshv supply with no 3904s without issue, though sometimes I get paranoid and think it's running out of power. Good reminder to take those rails down and sell the SumR
  7. 2930 shipped to the US and falling, this is the currency equivalent of a firesale
  8. http://www.seeedstudio.com/service/index.php?r=pcb
  9. What version of the PSU board is that? I like the spots for bigger LV caps
  10. So the poverty version of the KGITSOJC would be the ubal to bal (stuffed with jfets) driving the dynalo boards? And I guess a switch between pre and headphone outs? I'm curious about this dynamic piece of equipment, but Iv'e only got k401s and some random onkyo I found lying around.
  11. Or megatron, no heatsinks to deal with
  12. They also have the balanced TKD's which I'm mighty interested in. Now where to ditch the 601S's
  13. the parts that are unobtanium for the bhse are the same as those for the t2
  14. With a chassis that big it almost seems like a waste to fit in the ES-X (SR-X)? From the pictures I spot a two-box implementation? That being said I'm always a fan of p2p work so I'm looking forward to the end result. I'm also in possession of several chassis that have a ton of holes in the face plate (for the dynaFET iirc). I've been looking for a while for something to plug holes intended for chassis-mount XLRs.
  15. The heaters are straight shots over atm, I'll give that a try when I can stop listening to it
  16. Thanks insanity. Haven't populated the servo yet, but I'll get around to it eventually. Seems pretty stable without it already. I was able to zero the offset by populating a 1.2k in the tail. There's some low level hum in only one of the channels which is sort of annoying... aside from that it sounds very good. Keeping it in prototype form makes for some nice handwarmers this time of year. Slightly different vocal imaging compared to BHSE, more forward. I might have to swap the Megatron for this at the office.
  17. are you building the original amplifier or making circuit changes
  18. I was trawling the thread but I couldn't find anything. hat should the voltage rating on the .1u servo caps be? I have some 50v c0g lying around but I wanted to make sure.
  19. the worst part is I still had to process the genius of that after I read it I hope my tears of frustration don't short the board
  20. I got a KGST up and running last night, haven't tested it with music yet. I'll probably have to swap out the tail resistor in series with the pot, getting 10~30V offset for each channel. This has happened to me on the KGSSHV as well, might be a good idea in the future to leave the tail resistor in a spot where it can be swapped more easily. That is, if we stick to the 1k trimpot
  21. aren't those dots actually trimpot spots for tcxo's? doesn't inspire confidence in the "femto clock"
  22. sorry I was just being a shithead about the sound signature, there's no change. the black cable looks nice though, might have to grab a black leather headband next since this one is starting to crack. the other mk1 I have (70761) has the separate resin piece that's fixed to the cable housing with 2 screws. also comes in the carbon fiber box. just thought I'd mention it since it might complicate the identification of mk1s units.
  23. but the brown cable makes it sound so muddy
  24. just recabled my 007s with a black cable, I think the sound is too dark now. It still squeals a bit, I might need to clean up the solder joints. I get the shakes when trying to reflow the solder haha btw I have SN70111, but the teflon/resin/whatever housing the driver is one single piece. I was under the impression that the earlier models have some sort of resin piece + 2 screws that holds the cable entry in place? Also has the carbon fiber box
  25. Those DHT amplifier prices are pretty cheap, I would be wary. Those prices would only cover the cost of output transformers in certain cases
