  1. I thought about that too, but I'll have to wait for a smaller pot to come in, like the balanced TKDs. I placed an order but I think there's a 6 week lead time or something
  2. that's not how you spell light urple I think the color looks okay...if you're wiring an amplifier with it. That choice of termination though, why didn't they just go with something like a mini 4 pin xlr or lemo? According to the faceplate it doesn't even drive 2 outputs via those jacks
  3. Are there discernible advantages over the fqp supply? It seems like you'd only want to use the sic supply only if you're going to bump the current above the default(?) 14ma.
  4. oh I was referring to mounting the alpha pot itself, I have the shaft coupler and etc. There's just no room where I can reliably mount the pot. I can probably use a zip tie and one of the adhesive ziptie mounts but that seems like such a hackjob. If anyone has any pointers to non-motorized quad rk27's I'm all ears
  5. found that the antek fits: I'm racking my brain figuring out how to mount an alpha pot, I'm not 100% sure an rk27 will line up with the hole I made. it's a last resort though, use a new faceplate to accommodate the bound mount pot. did some work on the psu as well, pretty trivial compared to the amplifier
  6. So I was meaning to ask, I saw a DVD mora box with a buy it now price of 4500 jpy (also its starting price), but kuboten doesn't seem to allow me to place a "buy it now". Do I have to do something special? I don't want to place a bid and perturb things. The hard disk set seems like a good buy though, considering tokyo jihen is officially disbanded from what I can recall
  7. I'm ashamed to admit I pirated the mora cd box, which is why I'm looking to redeem myself with the hi-res version. The Yggdrasil has enabled me to look into hi-res stuff and it's all pretty interesting. BTW I forgot, there WAS a box set for Tokyo Jihen: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/TOCT-29131 Bit on the pricey side and only redbook.
  8. are you planning to use the sic power supply?
  9. There are a number of case options with a single heatsink, I couldn't really figure out how do the IO for those in a tidy manner
  10. How accurate do the resistor values need to be? Thrown off a bit by the 1.43k and 102 ohm values. I figure with the trimmer in line, 1.5k and 100 should be fine? Also, what value dropping resistor are you using to drop the -HV to -20? This should be fun though, first time P2P-ing something- thinking about mounting the 12* tubes inside and letting the 6SN7* stick out
  11. That's good to know, I have some 12V power ones that can get some use
  12. I just realized this, but how are you powering the LV section JoaMat? If you're using your T2 supply, I thought there was only 12V available
  13. I remember reading "screw it, this is a mk3". I'm tempted to just up and buy one, that sigma pro broke the bank though
  14. Nice job with the drilling Wachara, if you still have problems with the heat you might want to try using perforated sheets for the top and bottom
  15. haha what caused your 0.1 revision? Just to make sure, these are the 007s you can buy right now on PriceJapan? I'm experimenting with some packaging materials I received from a DHL shipment to make custom pads for the 007s, excruciating amounts of work to shape foam
  16. re: dvd mora- is that a live compilation? I have some cd box set from a few years back that had four of her studio albums. I wish they'd release something similar for Tokyo jihen
  17. I understand your distinction, even if that is exactly what tiding over is. I was also making a more general statement about people's perception of the amplifiers, as you are not the only person who has made a similarly timed set of purchases
  18. the JPY to USD rate makes everyday christmas at CDJapan
  19. I more or less agree, I spent a lot of time using them side by side so I'm mostly making my statement based on the sonics. I ended up selling mine but I just received some new cascode KGST boards. The BHSE still stays around because Marc built it- you can't get work like that at the corner store
  20. It's weird how everyone seems to place the KGST as something to tide them over towards a BHSE, wonder if it's the price point Maybe it should be priced like the sic
  21. I think that takes the cake for longest build
  22. you could probably also thread it yourself if you buy one of those combo bits
  23. oh, I was thinking just leave it offboard and let the user handle sinking. Wondering what the dis/advantages are to the fq* part
  24. I thought Kevin was baking up something to challenge the KX-R
  25. I fixed my hum problem by buying an isopuck and a grounding strap, I wear it while I listen to the SR007 happiest ending
