  1. I switched between some matched rfts and xf2s, not really sure why it happened. I can try switching the 6dj8s and see if that changes anything. I figured two volts on the batteries wasn't a huge deal in any case.
  2. ah, I brought it up because when I switched output tubes the offset and balance changed pretty significantly. I ended up adjusting the batteries to 738/742 in order to fix this.
  3. I don't know if it matters to you...but I think I'd want a amp top plate where I can easily access all the trim pots and test points if I were to build another one I also just noticed now, but is there a reason you put the front end tubes in the front? does it simplify the attenuator wiring?
  4. you made a corrected version of that?
  5. squarewave
  6. nice, curious as to how it sounds over the t2
  7. I use ac heaters for everything without problems. maybe if it was in the input stage, but this isn't a megatron/t2
  8. aren't those exposed-tab diodes a bit close to other?
  9. clean that flux
  10. yeah in my limited experience it's come down to the elbow grease and proper rinsing. took me days to properly clean the t2 boards
  11. any plans for the leftover 507 drivers?
  12. ah that's way less cool...the spectral sdr2000 also has a fan loop between the analog and digital sections to maintain temperatures
  13. I think I read somewhere that lavry had some heating network in order to maintain consistent temperature across each of the DAC chips, but I don't know how feasible that'd be in a discrete setting What would you do about the math, FPGA?
  14. Craig I thought you were the one that mentioned that the torque doesn't matter as much when grease is applied? does this affect the to126 whose needs are lower? I had a tough time with the peek screws historically so I just went with the steel hardware
  15. I used 10PPSG, mostly for the long sleeve that extended significantly past the tab. I guess I lucked out in other ways, very glad I didn't have to do extra work to mount everything
  16. pretty prompt response, they won't pay for it unless the swap is part of some larger upgrade or servicing. also can't get the case color changed to black, sad times
  17. thanks, I shot them an email. yet another reason to invest in a tdr...
  18. The ep007 opening is smaller and I think that contributes to a bit of boominess in the bass, which is why I end up sticking with the 009 pads. Much more even presentation. Too bad those things cost an arm and a leg... Maybe I'll try the sr omega pads on the 007 one of these days
  19. yeah I've always thought the USB input sounded bad so I put a wavelink hs in front. it scales really well but the quality of the USB makes me wonder if the bnc input requires some fine-tuning
  20. what are your problems with the 009 pads? I like them with the 007, with a little padding in the back. I think the ep007 pads have better construction though
  21. Some metal covers like what schiit uses might work, maybe you can just scavenge some nice-looking tube shields?
  22. are you planning on implementing the solid state input stage again?
