Not to 'steal the thunder' of this thread, but I would also like a recomendation for a 4 conductor cable with portable use in mind for my upcomming K81DJ recable.

Well, I haven't done any critical listening yet, but it is a BIG step up from my onboard sound. I think that once I replace the EXTREMELY crappy potentiometer in my T Amp I will be in pretty good shape for my modest computer audio setup.

Did you see the new clock that Lars Clausen designed? www.newclassd.com Would be interesting to see what he thinks of it. As for 'all the active components' in the ZapFilter, sounds like he just doesn't agree with the design. I know I liked what I heard in the Zhaolu Renato modded, though I am not opposed to there being a better solution out there somewhere.

If you have a balanced rig, go with balanced. Maybe you can see if he will do all the other mods except the output stage at a reduced price... then install a zapfilter on the output.

Anyone considering the LC audio clock may also want to take a look at Lars Clausen's new company www.newclassd.com as he has another clock design he has released under that name that looks quite a bit more impressive. I've been meaning to contact him for a while to make sure that he is not designing any new output stages before I buy the ZapFilter.

But I thought you had the electrets replaced by AKG and they let you keep the old ones? From what I understood there was actually nothing wrong with the old pair? Or was it the bass drivers you had replaced? As I said though, open them up and make sure there is no cotton or anything stuck to that left electret or between the electret and the dynamic driver. I would also doubt check that the wiring isn't shorting or broken somewhere on the left channel.

'Pretty OK' huh? Is the USB DAC-201 much better? It is comparible price wise.

Probably just some cotton stuck to part of the electret. At least you have extras, the rest of us dont!

Hey guys, unfortunately Peter was unable to bring the new electrostatic amp. He confirmed that it is a step up from the EA-1 and EA-1. Should retail for around $1500. He did bring one of his newer PL10 amps though and, well, I think I am going to be happy with the balanced amp he is building me. More on that later. Need to clean up my apartment and relax a bit today. We had a late night.

Strange, that is definately not how I hear it. I think part of the confusion here comes with the two very different sounding stock K340's and the combination of mods used. As you have noticed, every little change tweaks the sound a little bit. I guess I am just happy with the total of the differences, where it didn't work out for you. I am glad you are getting closer to the sound you want though.

My comments made no sense given that I had already posted the picture of the EA-4. Dusty - Just to clarify, the EA-4 has actually 'been out' for some time, but the look of all Peter's amps was recently updated and he took this as an opportunity to update his webpage with most of the models he offers as well as hosting the new pictures. I think he still forgot to put up the PL12 though, which my balanced amp will be based on.
