  1. You are not wrong in your assumption, but I don't feel I have anything to be guilty about. I never shilled a product for Cattylink and did not ask for anything in return for my honest positive opinions which I gave on the Eastsound CD-E5. The fact that my threads on head-fi garnered some interest and increased sales for Cattylink is great for them... but that was not my intent. Since I had dealt with them in the past, they had my address. I was quite surprised when I received the package as I had tried to dissuade them when they hinted at the gift originally. If it makes you feel better, I've never won a significant amount of money on a lottery and have been cheated out of more money than this CD player is worth. Maybe it's a karma thing... Regardless, I've got zero guilt.
  2. Did swt61 say that the parts came in for Redleader?
  3. I would agree that the K340's are a bit brighter than the Senns, but that is a good thing in my mind. As for them sounding similar... I just don't see it. Tried to expand in more detail, but after deleting my sentence ~10 times in a row, I think I'll have to give up for now. I feel like crap today.
  4. Really? I've heard them out of a PPX3 SLAM and thought that it was a pretty decent match. Seemed to be able to drive them with authority and there was no lacking in bass definition.
  5. There is plenty to like as well. Isolation is a huge thing depending on the circumstances. I am in a similar situation to you I think... which is why I latched on so hard when I finally found a closed headphone that could compete with the big boys.
  6. Haven't heard the leatherheads yet, and the R10's didn't really do it for me. K340's without a doubt are the best closed headphones I have heard. I would have to agree with Biggie on the CD3K's.
  7. If I wasn't married I would buy a reasonably priced HE90 in a heart beat...
  8. There are mods that give Oblivion a more natural feel... but stock, I agree with you. I'll have to keep my eyes open for the Gothic games, they sound like good times. tkam - Thanks for the tip... but I really need info on where to sell my current computer more than what to buy.
  9. I really need a graphics card with 512mb of RAM for oblivion at max settings... I wish I would have known that before I bought. It still looks incredible at near max with the tweaks that I've done, but it would be nice to push it right to the limit. I think a large part of that may be my processor holding me back as well... hard to say. I haven't played any of the Gothic games, but have always been interested. Gothic 3 is good I take it?
  10. That stand looks hott Jamie! Congrats.
  11. A couple details I forgot. I have a legit copy of Windows XP Pro [OEM] that I could either include or keep for myself. The video card has 256mb of DDR3 graphics memory. lol, well it could be a little faster... oblivion is such a hog! The main reason that I am thinking about building a new computer is that I will be using it from my comfy chair [leather chair in my office] and have a somewhat alternative [weird] setup in mind. Part of what I plan on doing requires that I have an nVidia graphics card. I would also like to put the system in a smaller case and use this as an excuse to upgrade to an intel core duo and ddr2 ram. I am still not 100% on this, but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. [or if anyone is interested in the computer]
  12. Hey all, I'm thinking about buying my Wife a Mac Mini since she has been wanting one for some time now. I've been thinking this might be a good time to sell off my old computer and start building a new one since I will be able to use her Mac in a pinch. Should I part it out or try to sell it as a whole? Where should I sell it? [Hardforum?] What is this stuff worth now a days? case: coolermaster centurion 5 enermax liberty 500w psu dfi lanparty ut nf4-d w/ athlon a64 3000+ 2x 1024mb geil pc4000 2x 7200rpm seagate 200GB sata drives nec dvd burner with black coolermaster aluminum front bezel sapphire radeon x1900gt zalman 120mm fan/sink on the cpu, coolermaster 80mm volt modded intake fan, coolermaster 120mm output fan at rear Never been overclocked and its all in great shape and works fine. The case may have a few slight scratches, but I will have to give it a closer look. Thanks in advance, Jason
  13. There are definitely different looking parts, I am just not convinced that there is a sonic difference between all the different looks. Like I said before, I think it comes down to the shape they are in, mods that have been done, and the amplification. As for the Aikido... I didn't find it to be the best match at the volume levels I listen at. Would be a good amp if you listen at lower volumes though.
  14. Oh, there's three versions now? I still think it is possible that there are no 'different versions' and it comes down to the state of repair or disrepair that these headphones are in, combined with mods and different amplification. This old pair you received... the cotton may be more compacted, you aren't getting a good fit, there might be oxidization on the electrets, etc, etc.
  15. Well, if I wasn't already spoken for I would definately give Bjork a spin. Come on, she's fucked Tricky and Goldie! Two musicians that I have adored at some point in my life and one that I still like a fair bit. Oh, and I enjoy most of her work as well... except for the super creepy/weird stuff. I remember finding her hot in that movie she was in. I'm also pretty sure she would go absolutely apeshit on your cock. I just get that feeling. EDIT: She might still have that swan outfit as well... that could be kinky.
  16. I'm not surprised. I agree with that guy completely. Peter knows his circuits, his amps are insanely cheap, and they sound lovely... BUT... he does tend to 'cut corners' [mostly because he is in a rush, I think], and have low build quality. If you want to put up with the hassle of him getting it right and are on a budget, I say go for it. If you are well off and want a nice and simple process, look elsewhere.
  17. Congrats... I'm just going to throw my post from Head-Fi here mostly for aerius' benifit.
  18. That stuff is actually identical to the magnet wire that aerius mentioned AFAIK. I will chime in with another vote for Cat6. It is solid core copper and comes in different colours... oh, and also super cheap.
  19. The big solens are motor run... the same as the ones you use and were used in my McAlister amp. Still, even with the motor run caps 220uF is a lot. Most companies [asc, aerovox, etc] make 80-100uF max and you have to custom order to get a higher value.
  20. No idea, perhaps someone else can comment. I just know how hard [and expensive] it is to get high value film caps.
  21. Solen is really the only way to go for values that large... I wonder if it is worth it in this position though? Perhaps a high quality electrolytic like an Elna Silnic II or a Blackgate would be a better choice?
