  1. Good point, I didn't even think about the cord. His TV is a 32" (or around there) widescreen LCD. He'll be using this for Xbox360 duty, action movies and quite possibly porn. I think that is why he wants closed. So far, those Phillips are looking like my best bet. More recommendations are welcome though.
  2. Well put Nate, I feel similarly.
  3. Nice score on the Sextet. What did you pay for it?
  4. Thanks, googled it already anyways. I'm not a big sportsfan in any respect... I don't just disregard american football.
  5. They aren't badly designed though, just have terrible build quality. That is the difference in my mind. Neither is excusable, so I'm not trying to advocate McAlister Audio. I just think there is a clear difference between someone like him and Ray or Rudi. Ray's build quality is absolutely stellar, but he tends to give you a poorly implemented power supply and a rehashed design that usually has some issues. Rudi seems to do things differently than other designers, and though I don't have the technical knowhow to debunk the designs myself, I trust Kevin Gilmore's opinion. Also, though I love my amp now, I can't really say I've had good results from dealing with Peter. I certainly got a good initial price, but only through the hard work of many friends have I managed to get the amp to a point where I am happy with it.
  6. Hey all, So, a friend of mine needs some headphones that he will be plugging in to the 1/8" jack on his TV for quiet listening at night. Requirements: Must cost around $40 CDN. Closed 1/8" jack preferable circumaural preferable not complete shit That is about it. If anyone has any recommendations, let me know. Thanks, Jay
  7. mjb, your name is rather close to mjg and I am finding it confusing. Please put your gear in your signature so I can tell you two apart. kthx
  8. hehe, P Diddy actually made an appearance in my listening session last night. I'm not a fan or anything, but his cameo in the Busta Rhymes album I was listening to was alright. Oh, and I just find the word beefy amusing.
  9. Oh god, please tell me you're not paying $80 for a 6H30? The new stock ones are just as good as the old ones. Made in the same factory and to the same specifications.
  10. If I ever get an extra pair I will be glad to send them. Or maybe once I get my Grado's in the new year.
  11. Again with the bipolar jokes? *sigh* I don't have the energy today. Spritzer - I think that Ray and Rudi should really be in their own group, separate from Peter. They have completely different issues...
  12. You've got a point there, I suppose. Nah, it is safe enough now.
  13. Lycra? Modding them shouldn't be a problem. Hook me up with your guy who knows a guy. $80 for NOS isn't bad at all. I seriously doubt that they will replace my K340's, but they could be a cool portable headphone with some mods.
  14. Yeah, not everyone up here is completely obsessed with football and nascar.
  15. I think that is going a little far. I'm not the only one who likes this headphone. Just because everyone on here loooves the leatherheads and a few select Grado's doesn't mean the K340's only sound good on my amp. I'm sure they would sound quite nice on that cute mosfet amp of yours as well.
  16. Will wonders never cease?
  17. Seriously? There is a team named that? I love it. Do the bearcat! Owwwwww!
  18. I've been trying to get a pair for a while, they are really rare.
  19. Thanks for the birthday wishes guys and gals. Emily got me the best headphone shirt ever, I'll have to take a picture soon. Lots of books and the soundtrack for Labrynth as well. Pretty good haul. We are going to the family [hers] for a birthday dinner tonight, should be fun.
  20. Don't beat yourself up about it. Just toss them as soon as you can and get back on. I fell off last week for a bit, but I'm back on for my bday weekend.
  21. Huh? If the preamp and headphone amp are seperate circuits, ok, but any amp is going to behave differently when you plug multiple things into it. For multiple headphones, it really depends on what headphones you are talking about. If you plug in two K340s, the impedance gets halved and in some cases they might even be easier to drive this way in terms of voltage. If you plug in two Grados, you are talking 16ohms... pretty low for some amps. Two headphones of different impedance are going to make volume level matching pretty tough. Now, he is driving a pair of speaker amps and a hard to drive headphone at the same time... I think it goes without saying that this will put a lot of strain on the amp. It is not surprising that the headphones sound off in this situation.
  22. That's what it's looking like.
  23. Oh, I'm with you there.
  24. hehe, that was great
  25. LOL, whatever you say Jacob. I've never made any K701-esqe comments about K340 burnin. I think that all headphones need a reasonable amount, but nothing like what RS-Audio and K701 people talk about. Fitz obviously doesn't dig the K340, either that or his absurd amp isn't driving them properly. One of the two.
