Ok, I'm not going to get into what I think of Ori again, but I seriously think you should report his PM. He shouldn't be pimping his wares over PM on head-fi. As for his discrete stage being superior to the zapfilter, I'll believe that when I hear it. Ori's 'designs' are all about 'simplicity/purity' just for the sake of it, and I seriously doubt that it can compete with the zapfilter. Ori does know what he is talking about to a point, but as Biggie mentioned, he doesn't know as much as he likes to make people think he does. I'm sure if you do some searching around here there is a thread that goes into more detail, but I don't have the time to get into it now.

Variable is pertaining to the volume... ie. it has a volume control of some sort, no preamp needed.

Well, HD DVD is cool since it lets you play your regular DVDs upsampled to HD resolutions. I'm probably going to get a player at some point. I think I remember seeing one that had inputs on it that then get upsampled? That could be cool for the Wii.

You're pimping them, but I didn't mean that in a negative way... also, quite possible that our definition of 'pimping' something is slightly different. How do your IC's compare to the Poiemas? From the comparison we did at a recent meet, the OPUS with zapfilter sounded identical to my Eastsound with zapfilter... the OPUS with the ballsie output stage seemed to be missing something, but it may just have been a gain matching issue as the zapfilter has higher output. They were very close though in any case, which is why the OPUS is off my radar for now.

FYI, he tried the HD201s and liked them, so all is well.
