From the comparison we did at a recent meet, the OPUS with zapfilter sounded identical to my Eastsound with zapfilter... the OPUS with the ballsie output stage seemed to be missing something, but it may just have been a gain matching issue as the zapfilter has higher output. They were very close though in any case, which is why the OPUS is off my radar for now.

FYI, he tried the HD201s and liked them, so all is well.

Come on people, all the grado drivers are the same, they just tweak them differently and add doping compound and a couple virgin cunt hairs to the higher models. Still, the higher models do sound better, so unless you want to figure out how they do it yourself you are stuck paying the money... or rolling the dice on a modded pair from headphile or someone similar.

I've heard woodied HF1's that sounded like sheyott too, so I think there must be some variance in the HHF-1s. I've yet to hear a RS1 that sounded like garbage, but I have heard pairs that were clearly better than the norm...

I'm slowly slugging through the thread. This guy seems to know his stuff, though I am easily fooled. He really needs someone else to do his design work though... goes way overboard with red and blue LEDs.
