Hope everyone had a great x'mas. My little girl just turned two years old on x'mas day so we all had a great time.
-
I think Jerry got a few pointers from Astell & Kern.
-
Hoping for you and your daughter speedy recovery.

How about keep the player loaded with the titles...and sell the actual albums to recoup some cost? @ Justin: Are you an AK dealer too or is that for your personal collection?
-
This has proven to be a really good player given its size and features. The sound signature is not as powerful and robust as the ZX1 and X1, but it is forgivable given its size, battery life, and storage. It sounds really good with my JH13 and is a step up from my iPhone 5 in all areas.

Happy birthday Tom!

I also noticed that it can't render the soundstage & able to provide precising imaging as better amps (GS-X MKII). Still it is one heck of a deal for the price. I also find it not as good as the HR Ultra Balanced Desktop.

which one of the (computer) guy again?
-
I'm still waiting for my Pulse X to be delivered. I was one one of the early adopter as it was a part of a group buy. So it didn't cost me more than $375 for a balanced DAC/amp. I don't really have high hope on sound quality though.
-
Any difference in sound quality between the original Justin's BH and current version of BHSE? Look awesome Birgir!

I'll just buy a new SR009 from Pricejapan for $2900. Still, $3250 for a new pair with warranty is also a great choice. Maybe might worth to bargain for extra year of warranty tho.
-
David, you really should give the 007MKI another try. I was never happy with the SR007 either unless out of the BHSE, T2, and KGSSHV.
-
Ask him where is the SN located on the headphones.
-
What the you like better about the vintage tube over the SED? Do you like it better than the Psvane tubes as well? Regarding the brightness, I actually find the BHSE to be a tad brighter sounding compared to various builds of the KGSSHV, and the DIY T2. The T2, IMO, is so good that it works wonder with both the SR007 MKI and SR009, where as the SR009+BHSE combination maybe a tad bright for some.
-
For reference, the X-Sabre is slightly better sounding than my Oppo 105 DAC. Not sure how the DAC section on the HA-1 measured up to the 105 DAC.
-
Well, the HA-1 won't be that desk friendly either. Its footprint maybe smaller than the M51, but it will take up more space than something like the Matrix X-Sabre DAC.
-
I hope you don't mind me answering this. For the same price, I would get a used NAD M51 to go with your DSHA-1 and don't look back. The HA-1 is a bargain for the price but it won't blow you over as a dedicated DAC or headamp. As a combo, it is an excellent value but it won't measure up to your DSHA-1 + good DAC. So I suggest you get a better DAC and stick with your DSHA-1 for a much better results. BTW, I've auditioned the Oppo HA-1 in person before and the built quality on this is just superb!

Congrats shelly! Do post what you think of the BHSE. Which color did you order?

I still regret til this day not purchasing Doug last L2 when I had the chance. At the time, I didn't have the HD800 and my Gilmore Balanced Reference was just as good at driving my R10 & Qualia. I'm sure the L2 will take an upper hand with higher impedance such as the HD800. Wonder how GSX-MKII and L2 will compare when driving the HD800.
-
But Israel isn't far away...should have asked him for 12k...
-
A properly built T2....would command and justify its 10k pricetag.
-
Very true sir..very true. Although, I think the T2 is the one that actually rule them all. Finish yours Birgir!
-
Well...this is good news for us...but yeah...way too many end games setup. Still, I think the KGSSHV is the very best deal going. No tube to mess up and it just sound just superb.
-
What tube are you using on your BHSE? I still find the BHSE to be better if you use those precious NOS Mullar/Amperex EL34 tubes. I have tried the 5.5mA 500V IXY as well as 10mA 450V Sanyo and the 450V Sanyo KGSSHV is amazing with the SR009. The 500V unit is more neutral and tighter in the lower registers, making it a better match with the SR007 MKI IMO. Yes, the O2 MK1 is just sublime with the BHSE. They are a b*tch to drive properly and only the BHSE & T2 can bring out the best in them. The KGSSHV does a remarkable job as well but noticeably inferior sounding to the BHSE in a direct comparsion. I wholeheartedly agree with you that the full-size KGSSHV is a bargain next to the BHSE. The real bargain maybe the KGHT given its even cheaper pricetag to the KGSSHV. We are forever thankful to you and KG as well as the mafia team for creating the KGSSHV!

so he used something else completely different than those Plitron on the ES-1?
