  1. I hope that they don't reuse the drivers myself b/c my old ones were a mixture of original and replaced driver and my right output was always slightly quieter than the right. This time it sounds dead even on both side. It is a really a nice improvement over the board. The original JH13pro always a tad dull sounding IMO. The FP model is more open, clear, and transparent IMO.
  2. I believe part of it is, but not an entirely new shell. I've asked if I can get a new shell color and they said it will be extra. What do you mean by "cable style"? The cable looks the same to me. Are we talking about a new connector? You know I can call them up on Monday and ask about the warranty and report back. I think the drivers are the same though. Will let u guys know.
  3. My favorite site to buy writing instruments. www.jetpens.com I love their ballpoint multi-pen & mechanical pencil combination collections. http://www.jetpens.com/Platinum-MWBS-1500-2-Color-0.7-mm-Ballpoint-Multi-Pen-0.5-mm-Pencil/ct/297
  4. Got my JH13pro back with the FP treatment. Totally like the sound. The sound is cleaner, more resolving, and just as good in the bass. A worthwhile upgraded IMO. I advice anyone who want to send their phones to upgrade to call first and talk to Maria to schedule the work. Then mail in your earphones 3 days before the scheduled date. All it took me was 5 days and I got my 13pro back better than ever. This way you don't have to be out of your earphones for 2 or 3 weeks.
  5. So the universal Angie seems to be the best deal going on then? That's impressive given that the universal design is usually better than the custom ones plus it will retain most of its value as well.
  6. I hope so JP. Mine is awaiting the upgraded now. Have you tried out their Siren series offering?
  7. Hoep you have a great birthday Ryan. Hope we can get together soon.

How do you like the KGDT with the SR009 Birgir? Thanks.
  9. That's why you need to show them the path to Stax enlightenment again. Of course I'm onboard with everything you have to say beside the SR009 issues.
  10. I didn't find this out until recently. Heck I asked them twice already both during the repair and they said absolutely not. And my last repair was two months ago. I called yesterday to confirm the rumor about upgrading and it is true. The cost is $350 and I'm going to mail mine in mid of next week. You can reserve a spot first before you mailing your earpiece in because the line is between 2 to 3 weeks. I think the FP treatment is all you need to bring the old 13pro to the state of the art again. I still love mine but I auditioned the universal 13FP and thought that it was more transparent and open than my old 13pro. Sorry, have no clue about the 16pro. I confirmed the 13pro upgrade with both Sue and Maria.
  11. Glad I'm not the only one. Gotta love Class A biasing.
  12. What sort of improvement can your discern by going from the old to new boards.
  13. I'm thinking about mailing my JH13pro in for a "Freqphase" treatment. Has anyone here compared the original 13pro vs. the FP version? I appreciate your take on the issue. The cost of doing this is $350.
  14. Agreed. I would get mk2 boards to bring your MK1 as close as Mk2 though. This will also increase the value of your amp.

I like the full-size KGSSHV 450V with Sanyo parts better. Tonality it is very simlar to the KGST but the full-size KGSSHV throws better soundstage and it is more resolving to my ears. The KGST w/ GE tube has smaller soundstage so it is more intimate sounding to my ears.
  16. Happy Birthday as well. hope you had a good one.
  17. Are we talking single-end or balance? I really do like the Susy Dynahi a great deal. Like you said they are extremely powerful and give such an intense/impactful listening experience. I also like the fact that it is a little warmer and punchier than both the GS-X MK2 and Justin's Gilmore Balanced Reference that I have. I was quite surprised that it is able to drive the CD3000 exceptionally well.
  18. Yes, plus you don't have to worry about stacking amp/psu issue on the new GS-X MKII. I would suggest you to build the Susy Dynahi if you can as it has the best slam factor and the best sound compared to the GS-X MKII & Gilmore Ref for higher to drive cans.
  19. I have the GS-X MKII and I say go for it if money isn't an issue and if you want to add harder to drive phones to your collection. The improvement over the MK1 however would only be slight or not any better on lower impedance phones but more audible with harder to drive phones such as the HD800 or orthos. The MKII is very versatile amplifier that sound great with wide range of headphones from CD3000 all the way to the HD800. Note that I don't have the GS-X but I do have the Gilmore Reference Balanced (Justin original balanced Dynalo with exotic parts & beefier PSU than the GS-X). This amp renders bigger and deeper soundstage with more sense of air than the GS-X MKII. It also works better with lower impedance phones but just can't match the GS-X MKII when driving something like the HD800. I'm not not sure how your GS-X would measure against my Balanced Ref; however you should hear more benefits with higher impedance phones due to more power on tap on the MKII. Another thing to add is that I also notice that the MKII is slightly warmer and possibly more neutral than my Gilmore Reference balanced.
  20. Beautiful work indeed!
  21. I don't think my set is bright either and this is an older set. In a direct comparison with Mulveling's new set, my SR009 is very slightly warmer sounding. Not sure why is this. The only time that I find the SR009 unbearable is when I'm running it off the KGSTwith RCA tubes. The GE tubes work much better for me.
  22. Mulveling's new SR009s doesn't sound any more mellow on the top ends compared to my older pair. In fact his is slightly brighter. I hope he can share his experience b/w my old and his new pair.
  23. I love the the look as well as well as dual jacks.
  24. 3K for the bottom model and over 6.1k for the top = Pass!
  25. Have a great one Ed!
