I'll play...get both rigs and report back. Seriously though...calm down...and just get the SR009 and KGSSHV and be done.

Despite his less than stellar shooting percentage, Lebron is the facilitator this whole series so far. I'm cheering for the Warriors but I'm afraid that Cleveland will take it in 5 games.

The Susy Dynahi is even better at driving the HE1000 than the GS-X MKII but then again the GS-X MKII is already quite stellar at driving the HEK. Well the HE90 is warm but not overly warmth out of the HEV90 IMO. This can also depending what tubes are in the amp. However, they do sound quite a bit better and more accurate out of the DIY T2, IMO. I have another friend here who actually share my thoughts about the voicing. Note that I'm not saying that the HEK is exactly like the HE90 but it is definitely more in that direction than the SR009 IMO. I hope you will be able to share your take on them again soon. Yes, the GS-X MKII is quite good at driving the HEK.

Very true. You need a fast & tight sounding amp with plenty of power to drive the HE-1000.
-
I'm sure that the setup is different. Mine is NAD M51 > SuSY Dynahi > HE1000 vs. BHSE w/ Holland XF4 NOS > BHSE

Thanks for your take. I feel the same way on the HE1000. In a way it is a very musical headphones, but it lacks the resolving abilities & transparency of the SR009. Warmer tonality wise and also very forgiving though. During a complex musical message, the SR009 distance itself from the HE1000. I personally won't paid $3000 for them. $2300 is a fair price for one. Build quality is decent and it is too shiny for my taste. I can see that Fang is going after the HE90 voicing IMO. Still the HE90 is better in my book. On the SuSy Dynahi is great at driving the HE1000 so as the GS-X MKII.

I prefer the CD3000 better than the Z7 over all. Bass on Z7 reaches lower and has more impact but definitely is overdone. Soundstage is wider & deeper on the CD3000 but the Z7 is almost as deeper but falls short on the width of the soundstage. Midrange & details are definitely more superior on the CD3000. The Z7 once recabled has slightly better treble compared to the CD3000. The CD3000 is a tad bright on the treble even after the cable upgrade. The R10 is superior to the Z7 in all counts beside the bass impact/output.

I don't have the stock CD3000 anymore but do own the recabled one. The CD3000 is amazing once recabled and running balanced. Hirsch mentioned this several years back and I totally agreed with him now. The CD3000 is nearly as good as the HD800 out of the GS-X MKII when I compared them side by side.

I actually own the Z7 and In the stock form the bass is bloated and over done. Tonally this is a warm, bassy, and dark sounding phones. I use the moon-audio silver dragon and that really help out the sound tremendously. The stock wire is ultra thin and is limiting the performance of the headphones. I also own the PHA-3 and this go together well. I still like the SA5000 black dragon that I have over the Z7. The build quality on the Z7 is excellent though. It does rendered soundstage very well for a closed phones but still fell short of the CD3000.

Congrats man. You will be quite happy when they are landed.

I recommend moon audio silver dragon if you can find a used one. It improved my JH13pro (non FP) considerably before the FP upgrade. Of course, I would not pay a full priced for it. $200 for that is very steep. Funny though...others are charging upward $650 for an upgrade CIEM cable.

So what do you think of the HE1000? I'm curious. Mine has over 200 hours on it now.
-
Maybe not any more. The AK240 owners are visibly upset, especially those who just spent a cool 3k for the AK240SS (stainless steel). Many AK240SS owners are pissed b/c they were lied to that the SS will stay as the flagship model for the next year or two.

Have a great birthday!

Completely understand. I'm in the same boat but it makes sense for me b/c I'm short changing my SACD collection by not able to play it on my NAD M51. Plus my M51 isn't any better than my old Modwright Denon 3910 and his new mods should sound significantly better. I plan to sell my M51 afterward however to recover the cost of the upgrade.
-
I'm contemplating on getting my 105 a Modwright treatment. Dan is having a 20% right now and I already own the tube rectified PSU, so it will only cost me $1500 + shipping. I'm a big fan of his work and my Modwright Denon 3910 still best the stock 105 handily sound wise.

Check your PM at the other site. Sorry for dragging my feet.

Have a great birthday, Ari!

Happy Birthday, Shelly! Hope you get to take a Friday off to cerebrate your birthday.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. 4 more years before the big 40!

Just Wow....such an awesome build!

Disappointed at the Spurs for not able to close out the game. Clearly Manu & Parker are well past their prime and Kawhi Leonard is still not consistent enough . Clippers are more clutch when it matter most. Did you guys watch the snooze fest between Pacman & Floyd? May Weather is clearly a better boxer but the fight is not exciting enough for me. The flight is actually televised in Thailand and I watched the whole boxing match via Facetime.

Happy birthday!

Argh..I was hoping that you can make it Brent. Maybe Fitz will attend?

I'll get to hear this soon as well. I wonder how great will the HE1k be.
