I love your headband work on the SR009 David.
  4. Have a great birthday Tom!! Don't forget to take some time off and enjoy your recently revamped speaker system.
  5. Why not return to the original owner and let him deal with it?
  6. Toslink is usually the worst of digital cable/connection...unless you are using a really expensive toslink cable.
  7. Thanks for the impression. You need to get a silver Oppo 105 to match the look of the Yggy & KGSSHV.
  8. That was you then. Congrats!
  9. Can you please outline the difference? When Mike brought over his two much newer SR009s and we both didn't notice much of difference beside mine having a more mellow top end.
  10. Thanks Birgir for bringing it up. Forgot to turn off the BHSE & T2 several times myself actually. That's another great reason to own the Carbon one day.
  11. Between Mike and I we own three SR009s. Mine is the oldest (3 years old) while his latest one was purchased in February of this year and his older one is about a year old. Surprisingly my 009 is a tiny bit mellower at the top end than Mike's. And we do have good amps to drive them Birgir, one of them is your KGSSHV mini, full-size KGSSHV, BHSE, and my DIY-T2.
  12. Hardly, but I do that from time to time during the weekend for solidstate but never for tube gears.
  13. Happy birthday as well!!!
  14. That KGST should have a servo built in and should be ready within 5 to 10 mins. It doesn't require a long warm up time. Also it runs ultra cool thanks to all the ventilation that Tony (S_r) put in.
  15. That amp is very attractive in person. I have another one just like it and it sounds very good. I still prefer the full-size KGSSHV obviously. The builder is S_r here on head-case. He is quite an outstanding guy. His built quality and attention to details are top notch!
  16. Very true. All Red Wine Audio gears are discontinued and replaced with the "LIO" series.
  17. I think he discontinued all of his audio component but still offer the modification services. I think he just came to the conclusion that modding Astell & Kern players are just much more profitable than selling his line of audio gears. The cost of those AK240 mods are insane.
  18. I need to send my Beta pair in and exchange for the retailed version. The left connector at the left earcup has developed intermittent issue with sound going in and out. Over all, I still like the HE1000 a great deal. This headphone is completely sublime out of the SuSy Dynahi. I actually prefer the Dynahi over the GS-X MKII for both the HE1000 & HD800.
  19. Thanks Andy. I need a source upgrade and will pick up the Yggy.
  20. My experience was with the Apache and my view is bias because I was able to buy one for $900 and it did sound good for the price I paid for it.
  21. RSA amps aren't bad sounding but it just very overpriced. The Apache retailed at $3K when Justin's GSX was priced at 1.8K, and the GSX MKI was better in everyway including the chassis work. The Apache build quality was only good but not great. The top plate is made out of a very thing gauge aluminum. It deforms slightly if you stack something on top of it. IMO, Ray did capitalize on the market at the beginning thanks to Headfi & RSA fanboys. His amps also are photographed very well which help push the sales. I wonder what he did to Jude & other mods b/c they are no longer favor him like in the past. Maybe Cavalli is their primary supporter now.
  22. Plus it will be very difficult to answer. Not many of us here actually own the SRM-T2 and no direct listening comparison was compared between the original and DIY T2 version. Maybe KG has done it but I did remember reading that Birgir prefer his BH over the SRM-T2 during the initial phase of the DIY T2 project.
  23. I don't have the original T2, but I do think that the DIY T2 should be slightly better due to better power supply and optimum current. Plus the volume control used on most DIY T2s are much better. Most DIY T2s utilize either DAC-T or RK50 while quad RK27 is used on the Stax SRM-T2.
  24. Maybe his sales are mostly oversea now where folks are more into portable gears.
  25. Well he hasn't even attend any meet these days. Wonder what he is doing on his sales. Then again he ripped-off capitalized on the market for so many years so his exotic cars collection must be okay. He sure did great with his portable amp varieties.
