  1. Tool's "The Grudge", every once in a while their music makes sense...
  2. It starts with the speakers and headphones. If you are used to 'bad' or 'mediocre' sound and content with you freely supplied ear buds you will never hear the difference. Those Beats-things are hardly an improvement. I once let a friend listen to a track through a studio headphone connected to an old discman. It startled her that she finally heard everything yet she continued to use the Apple ear buds which only have acceptable mids for me.
  3. I will keep an eye on this thread. Recently the Swans' album "Swans Are Dead" arrived. Via via this music has been recommended so I at least have to give a try and dig a bit further...
  4. Giving it a listen right now. It already reminds me of B.B.E.'s album "Games". Ever since I tried Psytrance it replaced a large part of my music collection for casual listening...
  5. E.M.A.K. or Elektronische Musik Aus Köln's compilation "A Synthetic History Of E.M.A.K. 1982-88". Fascinating music...
  6. Just because Coroner is mentioned I started reading. Coroner is a cerebral pleasure every once in a while... Try Gore, underground Metal of some sort with hints of Metallica but the kind of aggression that made almost every other Hard Rock/Metal album in my collection redundant. The best part: Gore made instrumental music and their reissues on CD are of good quality. Bohren & The Club Of Gore drew direct inspiration from Gore.
  7. Liquid Soul's album "Love In Stereo", tripping on bass and beats as I am writing this to test the DT1350. This is good...
  8. Just in, found the right fit and seal is great. This headphone's sound quality is on par with the HD250 II, especially on the low end response. I am impressed...
  9. Are you talking about the SHP6000, SHP8000 and L1? I have the 6000 and 8000 and for the price they are quite good. The L1 I know nothing about but given Philips has made good headphones before without exaggerated marketing is something worth mentioning.
  10. Fascinating and painful at the same time...
  11. About the new HD25, apparently it is a further developed version of the old one with more versatile drivers and according to an old college of mine it sounds the business. I tend to believe him given he is a Techno/Deep House DJ on the rise in Amsterdam and he found it suitable enough to produce his own work with... [Alexander Valentijn]
  12. Happy birthday and get well soon...
  13. I skipped the AV40 and went for the BX5. They are a bit heavy but given the amplifiers are built in both cabinets that is expected. I should have bought decent speakers sooner.
  14. The perception of sound keeps fascinating me...

  15. Noted... I heard good things about the AV-40.
  16. Active speaker outputs, I am curious...
  17. Eva Cassidy's album "Songbird", right now "Wayfaring Stranger"...
  18. The importance of body language and keeping an eye on your surroundings is very important. Most importantly though is what people can identify immediately through your eyes. If you don't like a certain place and/or certain people, just stay away. Insecurity and fear, your eyes don't lie...
  19. Interesting article. It seems Sam Harris only writes about the situation in the U.S. Or is his article intended to be about self defence in general? It was a good read non the less...
  20. Kinston Wall's album "Tri-Logy", the last track "The Real Thing" is the best part of the album. 18 minutes of jamming with great guitar work...
  21. I'll have to look up "The Count Of Tuscany" just out of curiosity. I pretty much gave up on Dream Theater for the already mentioned reasons. I prefer music with emotion over technique thus Kingston Wall is playing right now. The band is technically amazing but I prefer the rawness of the older Progrock bands.
  22. I'll have to consider a few remasters...
