Thanks TMoney. The Yggy cost me £1850, and for that price I have to say I'm finding it very hard to believe just how good the Yggy sounds, a bargain, IMO.

-
I received the Yggy earlier today, and from cold I first used it with my HD-600/Dynalo mk1 for an hour, then the 009/BHSE for several hours. Now I was going to post my thoughts about it here on head-case, but because I'm selling the K-01 I don't want to write anything until that K-01 is sold. The one comment I will mention though, is to say I am very impressed with the Yggy even from cold, would be an understatement.
-
Thanks John. I've been advised the Yggy sounds better after it's been on 24/7 for two weeks, this advice was given by a head-case user [ I won't mention his name for assuming he wouldn't want me to ] and the gentleman I ordered the Yggy from. What I'll probably do though is leave it on all the time, which I was told would be safe to do, another thing I like about this order, is the Yggy is under guarantee for five years. About the K-01, when I got it in 2011 it cost £15,000, but I'll be lucky if I get a third of that amount, same with the 009's if I were to sell those Earspeakers, however I'd be confident in getting what I paid for the BHSE assuming I were to sell that stats amp, that won't be happening though unless I end up in deep shit and need money desperately, at the moment I've no worries about that. Regarding the Orpheus 2, even if I were wealthy [ which I'm not ] I still wouldn't get one, simply because it seems the HE-1060 can't be used with anything other than the HEV-1060, therefore if/when anything happened to that AMP/DAC, and it had to be sent off for repairs, then those headphones can't be used. This is why it's hopes Sennheiser come out with another new stats headphone that can be used with any stats amp.
-
I find the HE-1060 very appealing, but nothing else about that Orpheus 2 system.

I've had my source which is an SACD/DAC for four years, and in that time I've been very happy with it, however because I'm not listening to CD's that often now, I was looking towards getting a DAC only. The one I had in mind [ which I'm still going to get ] is a CH Precision C1, but because of it's cost I won't have the amount needed for quite sometime, therefore I've decided to place an order for a Schiit Yggdrasil which I've been told should be with me this coming Monday. In the meantime I'm having that SACD/DAC sold by someone that's in the used audio business, who was recommended to me by Luke that brought the C1 to my home for that audition. I've read good things about the Yggdrasil, but knowing how well that SACD/DAC [ K-01 ] and especially the C1 made my 009/BHSE sound, will give me a good idea how good the Yggdrasil is. In selling the K-01 I expect to lose a lot of what I paid for it, so when getting the Yggdrasil and more so the C1, I won't be selling either.

Probably like most, I'm only interested in the headphones, but even they will more than likely be very expensive, so it's hoping Senn do a new version of the HE-60.

I was actually offered that C1 I auditioned which was/is in pristine condition, but the asking price of £17,340 was still too much for me. I may end up going for a used one, but I'd only want to get one from the same guy that brought that C1, who is something to do with CH Precision's UK distributor.
-
From what I've read, CH-Precision started in 2011 and was founded by Florian Cossy and Thierry Heeb who apparently were once head designers at Swiss audio company Goldmund, so CH-P should last for sometime, however there are no guarantees with a lot of audio companies. IMO, the photo doesn't do justice to how well the C1's build quality is. Sometime ago I enquired about that upgrade to the K-01 and was told the improvement in SQ wasn't worth the cost, being told that I didn't ask what the cost of that upgrade was. I also queried about using an Esoteric G-02 master clock with the K-01 and was told the same.

After seeing the new Orpheus system, only the headphones appeal to me, and I bet they are very comfortable, so I'd only be interested in saving for those headphones. That might only happen though, if they could be driven by any stats amp.
-
I'm only referring to DAC's. I still plan on getting a KGSSHV Carbon and probably another pair of stats headphones, but because C1's can apparently be upgraded with possible future improvements, then that DAC will see my life out. When thinking of getting any audio equipment, I don't just seek SQ, build quality and looks also play a big part, so doing a blind test would be pointless to me. A couple of months ago I heard some then recently got 007A's along with my 009's with the BHSE/K-01, and while those 007A's did sound very very good, I still preferred the 009's, however this was while mullard xf4's were being used. In that audition with the C1, 007A's weren't used, so it would be interesting to hear them while using the BHSE/C1. Getting the C1 isn't going to be soon, it will take me at least three to four years saving for, now some will think I'm crazy for doing such a thing, but it's something I want to do. P.S. I've also thought about auditioning the Trinity DAC, but I've seen it priced at $60,000, so I wouldn't be saving for one even if it sounded a lot better than the C1.
-
While advice on trying different DAC's is very much appreciated, it wasn't something I asked for when I wrote the starting post of this thread. That probably sounds flippant of me, but I was only trying to point out the 009/BHSE sound extremely good with the C1, with no brightness or harshness from the 009's even with Peter Gabriel's " sledgehammer " which I listened to in that audition. ( mullard xf4's were being used ) Now I don't expect anyone to get or even save for a C1, but it's something I'm going to do, and once got I won't be changing it for anything else.
-
Yes not cheap, and for me to have one will take quite sometime saving for, but after hearing how it made my 009/BHSE sound, then saving for one is what I'm prepared to do. I'd be selling the K-01, so that will shorten the time in getting a C1, but it'll still be sometime away.
-
I did think about the Audio Note DAC5S, and will probably audition that DAC, but with it having tubes it's something I'm not really wanting. I guess there was no point in me doing this thread, but I just wanted to be part of the head-case community, seeing how a lot more truth is written here, as opposed to another site.
-
Yes I decided to audition the CH P C1 which users R-2R chips because of what's been written on the other site about R-2R's, but I also read about the difference between the R-2R's and D-S's on " mother of tone " website which was a very interesting read. I've tried different tubes with the BHSE John, and I'm now using audirvana + with my music server ( MacMini ), so getting a C1 is my next step after knowing just how good it made/makes the 009/BHSE sound, to my liking that is. I would also assume that R-2R DAC will improve on my HD-600/Dynalo mk1's SQ. I know there are cheaper DAC's than the C1 that may sound just as good, but the C1 has everything I'm wanting from an audio piece, plus because apparently any future improvements to C1's can be added to present ones, then in getting one I'll not be changing it for anything else, so I won't be worried about depreciation. I still plan on getting a KGSSHV Carbon to use along with the BHSE, but that will now be after the C1.

Although the title of this thread is the CH Precision C1 DAC, I'd like to start off by saying that when I first got the BHSE ( June 2012 ), it obviously came with stock Mullard tubes, and Earspeaker's used were my 009's. Now when I first heard those 009's with the BHSE I was very impressed with the first few songs I listened to, it was when I started listening to Peter Gabriel's " Sledge Hammer " and " Big Time " the problem started which was a piercing uncomfortable treble, and I found that piercing treble was with a lot of song's in my collection. Because of that problem, I was going to sell my 009's and get a pair of 007's, but decided to try some Psvane PH tubes instead, and those tubes calmed down that uncomfortable treble quite a lot, but the problem with the PH's was their reliability, so I ended up getting some original Mullard xf4's which I find to be better than the PH's, and probably a lot more reliable too. However, even though I find the xf4's are making the 009/BHSE sound extremely good, there's still a slight edginess to the SQ, and I never thought that edginess could've been caused by the K-01, but after auditioning the CH Precision C1 DAC with my 009/BHSE I heard no edginess at all and just an extremely good musical experience, an experience I want to hear again and again. The reason I auditioned the CH P C1 is because since using a music server ( MacMini ) with the K-01's DAC, I haven't been using CD's that often, so I thought it best audition a DAC only seeing how one would probably be my next audio piece, I also chose the CH P C1 because I very much like the look of it and seemed to be well built, which after seeing it in real-life it definitely is well built. The problem for me is the C1 isn't cheap, and even selling the K-01 it's still going to take sometime getting a C1, but that's what I'm going to do. P.S. After me mentioning about this treble problem sometime ago, I remember John ( username johnwmclean ) saying it could be something to do with my K-01, but at that time I didn't think that source could've been part of that problem, but it seems John was right because as I've said the C1 has taken away that edginess.

With Sennheiser coming out with a possible Orpheus 2, just got me thinking that Stax might be doing a new flagship sooner than later.
-
Wonder if a new flagship ( SR-011 maybe ) will be amongst the new Stax Earspeakers.

A friend visited my place around five weeks ago with his then recently got SR-007A's which he bought from PJ, he also brought his KGSSHV. We listened to those 007's and my 009's with the BHSE and KGSSHV, and we preferred the 009's with both amps, however those 007A's hadn't had that mod done Birgir's recommended, so I'll mention it to my friend. ( assuming he hasn't already seen it ) P. S. His 007A's did sound a lot better than the two 007mk2's I heard sometime ago with the BHSE. -
Someone brought his 009's to my place last November to try out with my BHSE, and when used with that amp they were working perfectly, but a couple of months ago or so he posted on the other site he was having problems with those Earspeakers. He was using a Woo Wee + integrated amp with his 009's but has since sold that Wee and has had his 009's repaired. I believe he now has a KGST and a Stax amp.
-
You might've mentioned this before Birgir, but I've not come across it if you have, which is how does your KGSSHV Carbon compare to your DIY T2 [ which BTW looks very nice ] driving the 009's ?

Although I no longer have a bike for outside riding, I do have a spinning bike for indoors, to which I have six " RIDES " DVD's varying from an hour to 80 mins long. I very much enjoy all those six DVD's, but my favourite is RIDES VIRGINIA Blue Ridge Mountains. When I first got that spinning bike, it's saddle was making my meat & two veg area numb, however I decided to get a Selle SMP which can be seen in the photo's, and since getting that saddle I've had no problem with numbness. With me having padded cycling shorts, I ended up getting that SMP unpadded which I find is still very comfortable, but I'm not sure how it would be for cycling out on the road. The photo's are of that saddle, my Bont cycling shoes, and Look KEO pedals.

Thank you purk. I don't think the same could be done with the Abyss, but even if it was possible, I wouldn't.
-
Now that's a very nice looking headphone, however with me already having 009's and putting a headband on that makes me very happy with how my 009's look, I think I'll stick with those Earspeaker's.
-
On the other site, I've written a few posts on their Abyss thread saying just how fucking ugly I think that Abyss thing is, [ I didn't write fucking because it's not allowed on that site, and would be removed ] which prompted those that very much like that headphone thing into saying it's how it sounds that's the most important, then comfort, and looks don't matter because a headphone can't be seen when listening to it, which is true, unless you've got mirrors all over your home, like I have. But the same can be said about a car. A car's only there to get you from A to B, then in comfort, but while driving that car you can't see it. So why do so many buy a car because it looks good, well when I was driving I got what to me was a nice looking car because knowing that while I was driving it made me feel good, and that's how I feel about headphones. Now it's about time a headphone came out that not only sounded extremely good, but looked similar to the HE-90, which to me is one of, if not the best looking headphone ever. P.S. I do think that Abyss might have a good purpose, it could be used as a dumb-bell.
