The Dark Forest (Three Body Problem Book 2). Just outstanding! I liked it even more than the first book. Consider it an absolute must read if you enjoyed the Three Body Problem.

Honestly, for enthusiasts the thing you want to watch isn't the public keynote, its the state of the platform address that followed it. I don't think they've posted the video yet, but i'll post a link once i find one.

I'm quickly discovering that purchasing whisky is nearly as much fun as drinking it. Those enablers at K&L certainly don't make it easy to say no with their reasonable prices and delivery right to my office. Our local costco also has a pretty decent selection with costco-like prices. Bought a couple or Norlan glasses and copitas to mess around with. I dislike how much contact my fingers make with the bowl of glencairns, so it'll be interesting to see how these two perform given they take different approaches to solving that problem.

The cell phone carriers are selling their user's real time location data to anyone who wants it. It is supposed to require the consent of the user, but we all know there are plenty of slimy ways of getting consent, like say burying it into a lengthy TOS contract that no one is ever going to read. The state of privacy in the 21st century is just sickening.
