Post what you're watching
Frontline looks at the Paradise Fire. Unreal footage. Scarier than any horror movie I have seen. The radio chatter and the recorded 911 calls are heartbreaking. https://www.pbs.org/video/fire-in-paradise-ncamrn/

How's the fit? I'm a little scared by the in-ear nature as I have not had great fits with IEMs in the past.

And now what did you do TODAY?
I am not normally one to optimize around edge cases, but... is this an edge case or is it just the new normal? At the very least, will have plenty of battery banks and food at the ready the next time around.

RIP someone or another
He made some amazing movies at Paramount. Also, to quote Rick James, cocaine is a hell of a drug.

And now what did you do TODAY?
Went in to SF for dinner last night for a warm meal and to charge devices and it was pretty damn surreal driving back across the Golden Gate Bridge into a nearly pitch black Marin County. It was like entering the void. Power is back on this morning but it is scheduled to go out again in a few hours and be out till potentially Wednesday evening. Plan is to run to the office, get my laptop, then go work at my boss's vacation home in Napa outside of the shut down area. I really hope we are saving lives here and not just shareholders, PG&E. This is such a pain in the ass.

And now what did you do TODAY?
Still no power this morning. It’s been out since 7pm Saturday. Word is now that it might be out until Thursday. This is insane. It might be time to head out of town for a few days and get a hotel room somewhere else.

It is always hard to tell the signal from the noise with the whining that occurs any time Apple ever does anything. The plural of anecdote is not data, but if there is smoke there could be fire. I updated my work computer on Monday and have been having no real issues. All the apps I use work just fine, including MS Office. I didn't use any apps that weren't updated from 32-bit, so I'm sure that helps.- Ye Macce Threade
Wait till you get to the end of the day and have 30% more battery life left than you did before. The battery improvement is the best thing about the new phones, IMO.- Post what you're watching
Finished up Ken Burns' Country Music. I wouldn't say it made me any more of a country fan, I but I do have have new appreciation for the effort, craft, showmanship and musicianship. It is well done. I learned a lot. Two artists who impressed me were Vince Gill and Dolly Parton. Vince's songwriting and musicianship clicks with me. He is a little more cerebral than some of his peers without going too far. As for Dolly, I've always been put off by her appearance but after hearing her story and her songs I'll admit... the woman is a capital-S STAR. Really impressed by her. The fact that she isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame while clowns like Bon Jovi are is a complete joke. As for the old warhorses, the music of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Hank Williams never gets old.- What are you listening to Part the Third
Twin Peaks is where I found out about them as well. Almost every band that performed on that show has been fun to listen to.- What are you listening to Part the Third

So this is pretentious, overwritten, nerdy... and... pretty good? I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would.
