1,600 nits peak HDR brightness and 1,000 nits sustained? Think of the things that kind of light will do for your room!

RIP Paul Volcker. Doing the right thing isn’t always popular, but it still is the right thing. NPR Planet Money episode on him: https://t.co/OTMqCSQZqC?amp=1

What are you listening to Part the Third
Yeah, he is such a dickhead, but it is hard to argue against this as being the top pop music album of the decade. Maybe of the last 20 years. It doesn't have the impact it did when it first came out (holy crap you have to hear this!)but it is just so darn good.

Been seeing a bunch of "best of the decade" lists lately and glad to see Robyn well represented.

Beyerdynamic/Tesla Cybertruck-inspired design?
Maybe it comes with a fart noise setting like the vehicles?

As atrocious looking as the truck. Well done!

The Knuckledragger 3rd Memorial Slow Forum Post
I googled Tyll and this came up (posted about a week ago): Looks like he is the go-to DJ in the Nomad circles? http://nomadcentercamp.com/

I had never heard about Cryptic Crossword Puzzles before seeing this video but now I want some! I'm probably too dumb to do them on my own, but they are really really clever.

What are you reading now?
Just finished The Golden Compass, Book 1. I'm ready to start the HBO series now! I enjoyed reading it, but I'm not sure I liked it as much as others seem to. Pullman strikes me as a decent writer, but coming off reading Ursula Le Guin his prose just isn't in her league. To be fair, few authors write as beautifully as she does. So many people seem to LOVE this series. I'll start in on book 2 and see if it hooks me more.

RIP Jack Burton Carpenter. Founder of the Burton company, snowboarding pioneer and champion of the sport. While I'm not a snowboarder myself, I'll tip my skis to him next time I am on the slopes. Fuck cancer.

MLB playoffs 2014
https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/if-the-astros-stole-signs-how-much-did-it-help-them/ Super curious to find out what, if anything, comes of this Astros scandal. Would the MLB go so far as to invalidate their championship?
- Happy Birthday JP!

Hillbilly Shakespeare, indeed. Still amazed at his output given that he never made it to age 30.

Get your game on!
Played the first two hours last night. Hideo-mother-fu#$ing-Kojima! This is so damn weird and I love it! I'm thinking I might not be going outside much this weekend. -- EDIT: Finished it. A stunning piece of entertainment. It takes gigantic risks in a way that is so rare in AAA-budget entertainment. Kojima set out to make a game about connecting people and boy does he deliver.

Watchmen
So three episodes in the show seems to be starting to hit its stride. I really enjoyed that third episode. I have no idea what the show would be like to watch for someone who hasn't read the original comics or at least seen the movie. I think I'd be totally lost. -- Looks like HBO is doing an "official" podcast with the same host that did the Chernobyl official podcast. That podcast was great so I will be looking forward to checking the Watchmen one out later this week.
