I'm really sad the see the devastation these latest Napa and Sonoma County fires are causing. A lot of places I know are getting hit and I hope all the people made it out ok.

I've been digging my teeth into Wasteland 3 and having an amazing time. A modern take on an old school-style RPG in the vein of the old Fallouts and Baldur's Gate games set in post-apocalyptic Colorado. I'm about 10-15 hours in. Highly recommended, and it is on Games Pass so free to check it out if you are already a subscriber.

The one thing I'd chime in with that differs from the advice offered so far is that, having just upgraded to 4k myself a few weeks ago, 4k at 200% scaling in windows looks amazing! Text is razor sharp in office apps, and I'm sure it wouldn't hurt in photo/video apps either. Running a 4k laptop at native resolution is insane, but doing 200% scaling is really nice. Everything is the same size as a "normal" 1080p screen, it just looks better and is rendered with twice the pixels. Good luck with the purchase!

RIP, Justice Ginsberg. One of my favorite law school professors was best friends with her husband, Marty. Both of the Ginsbergs sounded like amazing people. A trailblazing jurist who did things the right way. She will be missed.

Dum Dum Girls - Only in Dreams

I was able to open the windows last night and air my place out. Today there is <100AQI air all over the bay area. It feels amazing to be able to spend time outside and see blue sky for the first time in a week.

One more funny tidbit I learned while talking to a co-worker today: if you really love a hotel chain's bed, say the Marriott, Ritz, Four Seasons, etc. all of them are happy to sell their exact bed setups to you online. I don't travel enough (especially this year) to really have any particular affinity, but for the the gentleman or lady who can't get over how well they slept on a work trip or vacation then you can have that experience at home. I thought that was kind of cool.

Last weekend was the bed, this weekend is the linens. I did a dumb thing and went to the fancy bedding store and tried stuff a bunch of stuff blind without knowing what it cost. Ouch. This is head-case.
