I fired up flight simulator this morning. It is the first game in a long time where the visuals took my breath away. It needs some debugging and optimization, but it is a truly impressive technical achievement. I'm excited to dig in to it.

Lovecraft Country Ok, HBO. That first episode was pretty strong. I am interested! Watchmen was a nice surprise. I hope this one is too.

For obvious reasons.

The Japanese House - Good At Falling I read about her this morning on Pitchfork. I like it! Indie female singer-songwriter with big, lush production? Sign me up!

^ what Greg said. The best way to learn about wine is to go out and try it. I know we are in the COVID days, but there is no substitute from wine tasting. In person, at the vineyard or winery is the best. It is worth even trying the cheap stuff to give yourself frame of reference. You honestly will not know what you like a priori, you have to go out and experience it. Price does matter. A lot of the price is directly tied to the production costs. More expensive wines do receive more TLC than cheaper ones, often a lot more. Whether the quality difference is worth paying for is something you can only say with experience. Get out there, try stuff, share tasting notes with us, you HC crew! Cheers!

The Big Sur public beta dropped today. There hasn't been a MacOS beta wanted to try more in years, but I don't dare install it on my work computer. I can't wait to hear what others think of it heading up to the public release. https://www.apple.com/macos/big-sur-preview/

I'm sure it would be a fine computer but I would advise anyone who asks for advice to wait to buy a mac this year until they start showing the ARM stuff. They've told people they are switching the entire lineup, so why buy something that won't get the A-Grade Dev Team supporting it in a few years?

Europe '72 Vol. 22: Lyceum Theatre, London, England 5/26/72 The Dead brought their "A+" game on this, the final night of the 72' Europe Tour. What a show!

What a joke to turn it over to the person they did. I am glad it is ending. No one was going to follow up Tyll, but they at least could have picked someone who wanted to keep the balance between objective measurements and subjective reviews that Tyll walked so expertly.

The new version of Flight Simulator is looking great!

The Sonos stuff also gets the job done and works great with airplay. I think the Sonos Port can do either digital out to a DAC or analog out to an amp and also works with airplay.

RIP Regis Philbin. The guy was born for tv.

New 50th Anniversary Edition has a solid live show of them at Port Chester, NY from 2/21/71. Mickey Hart was out so really interesting to hear them with only one drummer.

While I'm personally partial to the soundtracks for the Clint Eastwood movies, few pieces of music get the emotions going like Mr. Morricone's Cinema Paradiso score. RIP.

Happy birthday, Stax mafia kingpin!

I know these kinds of posts can be unhelpful, but I forced the 2004 upgrade on day 1 and have had no issues. FWIW I have pretty high-end pc and I mostly just use the MS office suite, listen to music, and play games.

Happy birthday, fellow oneophile!

It never gets old. This one ages like fine wine.
