Plasma refresh rates really can't be compared to LCD refresh rates. The only reason plasmas say that 600 Hz BS is to compete with the LCDs that keep upping their advertised refresh rate. For plasmas it refers to the subfield drive, or really how fast each individual pixel is being excited which is a requirement of plasma technology due to rapid decay of light from each pixel. This post here explains things much better than I can: http://www.hdtvtalk.com/threads/15597-What-does-600Hz-Sub-Field-Drive-mean

ST50 and GT50 are very similar. The GT50 adds some thx picture modes, one additional hdmi input, a faster processor for the smart tv crap, and a few other items. Details here: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1403635/official-panasonic-gt50-series-discussion-thread-no-street-price-talk#post_21865487 Bottom line you get essentially the same picture quality so unless you need one of the features the GT adds you might as well stick with the ST and save a few hundred bucks. Or get a bigger one with the savings

The only ones I have come across are from TE connectivity: http://relays.te.com/kilovac/ I know digikey stocks some of them but they are extremely expensive - http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?k=kilovac&vendor=0&mnonly=0&newproducts=0&ptm=0&fid=0&quantity=0&PV1411=148&PV1411=150&PV1411=149&PV1411=103&PV1411=147&PV1411=142&PV1411=151

How will the bass fit through such small holes?

I think the point is that they are trying to force you to the cloud, whether you want to or not. If you want the same phone with a SD slot you just get the Optimus G, although you don't get the bleeding edge android any more.

The N10 is very tempting, 1600p in that form factor is incredible. I'm sort of in the market for a new tablet/netbook type thing for casual web surfing, emailing, etc and the N10 definitely looks like it deserves serious consideration. I am finding some of the Win8 stuff pretty compelling as well though and I want to see what price point the ivy bridge based win8 stuff comes in at

Never lost power here in Maryland near DC. NJ and NY area sure looks like they got pounded though. Good luck to everyone in the areas that got hit hard hopefully you get power back soon and the flooding goes down. Stay safe everyone!

I'd take 50 2sa1486 It really sucks how so many of these transistors get discontinued. I just went in for 50 pairs of matched sk170/sj74 as well. Didn't realize they were getting so rare. Hopefully I can get some decently matched quads in there

Or you could print out a copy and use a pen

500VA is that right? Seems very high

Fluke 113 is a quality meter. It should be able to measure these voltages with no problem
-
I'm assuming you are measuring with respect to ground? For the output of the transformer you should measure across the winding, so the voltage across 1 and 2 and then 3 and 4.

Mine was a little over 1500. Two box build with front panel express front and rear panels for both. Also I had a khozmo stepped attenuator and amb epsilon24 for power switching duties.

RIP to the man who participated in one of the most important and influential events in recent history.

Now we just need a dual mono T2

Fantastic job!

At the moment I have 5.1 with all 5 Ascend Sierra 1s. I am going to move two of them into the bedroom if I get these, but not sure about the rest. I honestly haven't been that impressed with surround channels even in blu ray and I would have to see how the Sierra center blends. Depending on how well things work together I might end up selling 2 or 3 of the sierras, which would offset a large part of the cost of building the CBT36ks.

Not sure I agree with that for a speaker that starts rolling off at 50 Hz. Even in music there is a lot of content below that, and for home theater it is a definite must have. And yes I would be using these for both duties

Internet + TV is cheaper than my POS comcast service, and I only get 25/5 megabit. No espn though

Oh I definitely didn't mean to imply that it will be trivial just because it comes with a pre made cabinet. Having the cabinet just makes it doable for me since my lack of wood working tools and experience would put this out of my league otherwise. Other than painting/veneering the cabinet it is now a wiring and assembly project which I can handle. And yea it definitely would need a sub (or two) probably crossed somewhere in the 80-120 Hz region but that can come later. I'm leaning towards going for it but I'm going to take a few more days to think it over before I pull the trigger.

Any thoughts on these speakers? http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=301-980&scqty=1 I'm working my way through Don Keele's papers and the original NRL publications and the theory and results are quite interesting and unique IMO, and the kit while not cheap looks like a great bargain for what you are getting. Not to mention it removes the biggest obstacle I have with DIY speakers: cabinet making. I attached the manual (10 MB), which is not only incredibly comprehensive with respect to the building process but also has lots of measurement and design information. 301-980-audio-artistry-inc-cbt36k-manual.pdf
