while we are on the subject, would a tube like the 5687 (it has been suggested to me that the 5697 would be a better candidate) do a good job driving a power tube like the 2a3? actually being serious in this post, i only have a very basic knowledge of valves (see: pretty much the same level of understanding as your average head-fier) and would like to build on it, although i do not think i will own a tube amplifier in the near future.

if you can't use a bestskinsever with it i cannot imagine you being able to see the screen after a while...

the beta22 has an output transformer? i was referring to the transformer on the sigma22...

i don't believe a case is included with any of those kits, except the sigma22 that's included in the balanced version, and iirc amb says that the sigma22 will fit into that hammond case (and a 2ch b22 would fit in the same case, again, according to amb) i will email him now, asking if the only things it doesn't include are: the transformer, the volume control, and case for b22 maybe someone will actually buy the sp mini so this thread can get back on topic before page 30...

in general custom amps will cost a lot less than equivalent production amps. i bet your mcalister amp would cost 4x as much as you paid if it was production philodox but still, yes, it better do oral and make burgers for that much money.

based on what is listed in the ad, it includes a case for the psu but not the amp itself. i will shoot him an email, since i also doubt you could get the amp up and running for under $500... i will shoot amb an email too. and perhaps send a pm on headfi to someone who has bought one.

someone should man up and make a headphone amp with 6sl7 driving 300b driving 845. that would get me interested in tubes, not these puny girly tubes that couldn't eat 100 watts if they tried. ...but damn does it look nice.
