  1. firing squad. i would scream PENUS PENUS PENUS really really loud before it happened and go down in history.
  2. well, actually, i doon't even know what the values of the caps in the imod are. i just wanted to post that awesome picture. regardless, using ~$800 capacitors with a $400 source is dumb.
  3. i wouldn't leave audiogon. i get lots of useful information from there. i decided to stop posting at head-fi because, in addition to getting moderated a lot, i don't really get much useful information... i probably read 10+ audio forums and they all have uses. i think audioholics, audiocircle, here and diyaudio are the most helpful.
  4. i love that site because it likens audio equipment to toilets.
  5. you are fooling yourself if you think ken won't make a super expensive dock specifically for the 5g imod. with GIANT CAPS FUCK YEAH
  6. in short, if head-fi is the 3rd reich, audigon is the illuminati. threads just disappear without notice. with audiogon's recent price increases for posting ads and other happenings, i fear for the future of the site.
  7. star wars used it it must be godly.
  8. so that means you can get an imod with a super-clean dock line out, AND a headphone jack for when you don't have an amp?
  9. my uncle really likes it but isn't a fan of the growling. off of the top of my head, some great ones are: all of damnation still day beneath the sun to bid you farewell patterns in the ivy 2 general opeth discussion is welcome too, i recently bought blackwater park again after losing it and found a new love for this band. np: Days of the New - Flight Response
  10. there is no upgrade path from the zhaolu.
  11. ohm acoustics needs mention.
  12. looks like a pretty interesting combo. still looking for that perfect <$1000 dac.. anyone have any experience with the p-3a in particular? this combo is years old but hey, worth a shot. has i2s which is nice. i think modwright has a mod for these.. edit: yes, they do.
  13. i always imagined mikhail as a towering giant who ate tubes for breakfast...
  14. no, #2 is sleestack. no idea who #16 is either. boo, no pics of fairly hot ultrasone rep
  15. penus
  16. what tubes do you have for it?
  17. i would like to note that i was not criticizing the desktop balanced, as i have not heard it. i was talking about something that was discussed on irc, hungrych using the desktop balanced as a dac/pre for a pimped out speaker rig. i think that spending $3000 on downstream stuff and $1000~ on your source AND preamp is a bit unbalanced.
  18. not on headfi, where people make buying decisions based on forum gossip... edit: you have indicated on irc that your parents know about the situation. i know it sounds stupid, but if you get an adult (aka your dad) to chew him out it will be much more effective. edit2: yes it is probably pretty embarrassing but it will work.
  19. now that i think about it, would using the desktop balanced as a dac/pre really do justice to hemptones being driven by a melody 2a3? (@ hungrych)
  20. i saw in another thread, justin mentioned borrowing a pair of k1000s for testing with the ae2.... can this little amp drive the k1000 to adequate levels? i am going to guess no, but it's worth a shot...
  21. ori is definitely a tool... man, you built something he suggested over a dynatoob... i feel sorry for you!
  22. 1. are those nos? they look absolutely mint 2. how much did it cost? 3. damn, by the time i can afford them they'll all be gone... 4. fuck you
  23. i am confused... i swear to god i pasted his reply last night. here they are: i'll attach the spreadsheets he sent me. so yes, his prices are correct... miraculous. edit: can't upload excel files. in short, everything is included, besides the volume pot and case for the b22. i am sure he could throw a case in if you were building a 2 channel passive ground version though, it will fit inside of a hammond 1455 t series.
