Mark lives in the PNW I believe, pompom seems to be a Canadian. Perhaps Aerius' alter ego?
  2. A case of Wedell Pinot, so much for my promise to go cold turkey.
  3. Please please provide your impressions when this is done, as this one is on my VERY short list given the "affordability" of the 3910 apl version versus the full gundie $30k NWO.
  4. "Pay before the product even exists". Sounds like the (Larry) Larocco Diablo (or is it Disable) business pricing model.
  5. After paying my taxes last week I swore off buying any music and wine for the year. I just opened an email offer of some limited release Pinots and now this, ..............guess it didn't take very long.
  6. If so, when "it happens" we want pics of the inside of that cable.
  7. I kind of agree with Grawk on this one. Why not start a "MBL For Me" account? Yeah, first you start saving for the T every April word but then accumulating savings becomes addictive, like shopping for audio gear. Hey, maybe there is a silver lining somewhere.
  8. Cute kitty. Ahh nice rug too, Persian? The rug not the kitty.
  9. I'll be all over that if it does in fact appear.
  10. As for the Pine Sol, I already feel like I have been given an IRS Pine Sol enema.
  11. My intent was to buy the Remy, which I love, as a treat. .... and keep treating myself until I stop thinking about all the money I have to donate to the state and feds.
  12. 12 year old Macallan for my CPA, bottle of Remy XO for me.........................'cause of my taxes. I am tempted to drink most of the Remy tonight but I have a sixty mile hilly bike ride tomorrow and I don't like throwing up on rides.
  13. Aerius, thanks for the great impressions and review. The Trafomatic does detail very well, voices whether doing jazz harmonies or in a choral composition you hear the detail of individual voices rather than a cacophony of music. For the $900 price point I agree this will be one amp that is hard to match, it looks nice too.
  14. I seriously doubt anything you conjure up would ever be an "embarassment" so I am looking forward to pics and CanJam impressions. Perhaps unsexy will be the new bling?
  15. So Pelikan or..................?
  16. For the most part, an apt description but the right amp can make them sound like an entirely different set of cans. A change for the better IMHO.
  17. I agree with guzziguy, the K701s have always sounded mellow and perhaps a bit laid back to my Pinot damped ears. The degree of detail differs greatly between system such as one of Tyll's HR desktops mated to a Wadia--airy and wide sound stage to DigiPete's DynaHi mated to a Saturn - very airy even wider soundstage and super quiet with a mid bass smudgie kid of thingy. Amps will make a difference here because I think they reall need a lot of umph to get the job done with these cans.
  18. Damn! So now we are talking cart, phonostage and even tone arm matching to get the components to work together, and at $150 to $600 a pop for cartridges this can get very expensive real fast. This is the very reason I am hesitant to take the leap in vinyl goodness right now I am having a tough enough time finding speakers that work well with my different amps, now complicate that with the whole TT chain and I just might switch from Pinots to heroin. David, where how did you decide on these cartridges to audition was it BB?
  19. .......especially fellow speaker dudes and dudettes. That $1K price point is a toughie I will have to think about it and get back to you. Because unlike "the other place" I won't give you my opinion based upon what my second cousin's sister-in-laws's hairdresser's uncle read in last year's Stereophile or heard on Oprah, I would like to give you my opinion, FWIW, on things I have actually auditioned. Welcome to HeadCase J, kumbaya.......................
  20. They have some really nice high quality cabinets on the web site, too bad they don't make red maple butcher block amp platforms as a side line.
  21. Like Dusty says, "get both". There can never be too much (wife/mistrees) goodness.
  22. Nice colors!
  23. Awesome! Who 'da thought a young Japanes girl would want to play a Kansas song at a recital in Japan.
