Well it certainly seems that you, Reks and Voltron have the Jazz genere wired I like pretty much all of what you guys have recommended, especially the Duke Ellington and Ray Brown recommendation.
It is very impressive that so many people would take the time to show up and honor him. I would guess this is kind of a statement as to what a good person he has been throughout his life. Happy birthday!
What I meant by my comment was that when I heard some of the same jazz tracks I heard on the Abbys or Bens played through other speakers the music on other systems seemed more revealing like live music. The Cain and Cains didn't reveal the same depth and detail I had heard from other speakers. Strings on the C&Cs didn't have the oomph or decay, the brush work on one jazz piece seemed a bit off or veiled the piano seemed a bit recessed. These observations are why I stated that to me what I heard from the Cain and Cains seemed that "too much music was being left on the disk".
When you say "fail" what do you mean? I agree with you for the most part there is a distinct type of sound from single drivers you either love em or hate em. I have heard a few of the Cain and Cains and really didn't care for them, it seemed like too much of the music was being left on the disk.
Bear pepper spray, extra extra strength and new running shoes.
I am going on my son's school overnighter field trip to Lake Arrrowhead next week and lately I have been stumbling on all these news items of people being mauled by bears and mountain lions. I have a new tube amp and I am about to buy a new cdp. It is difficult to listen to good music if your ears have been torn off by a black bear or your head is in a cast.
Reks, Scotch is your friend. Nine out of ten doctors surveyed prescribe jazz and scotch for muscle soreness, the tenth one prescribed voodoo but you don't live in Louisiana so Isley it is.
Matt Ankers mods were excellent in the Denon 3910 I heard. Oh, perhaps try the Krell/Marantz thread for the transport issue I am not sure though. Sorry, I am currently suffering brain flatulence.
