Well since this is a Los Angeles/Orange County Audio Society event, there is a dress code. No gang attire, no Raiders team jerseys, if you do not wear a hawaiian shirt you must wear socks with your sandels. Sorry, thems the rules.

Well you should have no trouble there, that is if the Audio Society speaker folks allow you to get close enough to listen. Last year they were three and four deep through out the whole event, so be patient. Tyll always brings out a great selection of gear to audition. It will be a hoot.

Ahhh there are lots and lots of diy cabinet options out there for a single driver option BLH, QWT?? Since you are an aesthetics junky, I will be really interested in how you execute the finish. I suffered years over my many do overs for my two pairs and I am still in recovery waiting until I get the nerve to try my sub woofer project.

Well I have the Marantz 5001 and upgraded it by adding the Mdht Paradisea dac with Redbank 6385 tubes instead of the stock tubes or the WE 396as. The improvement with the Paradisea is pretty dramatic and the combo performs well above the additional $600 cost of the dac and Redbanks. The soundstage is wider, deeper, and quieter and if it wasn't for my new Capitole, the Marantz would still be my number one source for evening listening sessions. The Marantz 5001 has a pretty decent laser unit and with very light mods such as an IEC inlet and soundcoat for resonance you have a great transport. I would look around here for the many other good dac recommendations. Good luck.

Well tarantulas are better than the friggin' black widows we have all around. The tarantulas look cute, the black widows look evil.

I have recently developed this wierd superstition lately, I am afraid if I kill anything some thing in my audio gear will break right after that. This has happened four times in the past nine months so I won't kill anything anymore. Not even rattle snakes.

I found him today. We have had every type of critter you can imagine in our back yard at one time or another from bobcats coyotes, deer, owls, centipedes, roadrunners, ferrets black widows gophers rattle snakes you name it. Since I have no DIY amps or cables to share I thought I would at least share this--

This guy is very intriguing to look at. Close up, there is no mistaking that this is a tarantula. Having said that I am glad to see him in the sunlight than crawling in my bed at night.
