  1. Have a Happy Birthday you Happy Camper you.
  2. I agree with 909 and torpedo. I tried for two years to find a single driver speaker that sounded real and alive for me but every example was lacking something, whether it was the midrange punch or the coloring at the upper mids and treble. I built some single drivers in a BLH configuration which is supposed to handle the bass and midrange issues prevalent ins single driver configurations but.......not so. When I added a sub woofer that changed the game entirely. There are a lot of subs available in that price range so you should be OK if you decide to go that route. Edit: You may need to add a passive pre to that budget figure since most active subs have RCA inputs which I think produces a better sound than using the speaker terminals. YMMV.
  3. Nice impressions Todd, please keep them coming, sounds like a real winner. Hmmmmm, maybe I need to track one down for a comparo.
  4. LumaHunter MRV Revolution and a Surefire 9P. Right now my budget is allocated for a office speaker and usb dac upgrade, so I am on self imposed flashlight buying time out for a while. .....but Christmas is just around the corner.
  5. Workin' on it. Then there is chef knife collecting, vinyl collecting, fountain pen collecting (in remission), uber flashlight collecting....
  6. Most of my new vices, single malt included, are your fault but I will pass on your kidney, I have a feeling you will need both soon once your finances kick up again. Naaman gets partial blame for bringing up cigars in his posts and getting me back into that game. Thanks guys, it's good to have vices again.

Times have changed I guess. Back then, grad school ghetto living cost half of what the "good" near campus apartments cost, but those good neighborhoods were not nearly as exciting as my neighborhood.
  8. ....and don't forget my wine ans single malt tab.

Textbooks pffft. Rent is cheap if you live in the ghetto.
  10. Yeah but I have five rooms with mediocre music............... and I deserve better.

For me it was my second, third and last year of undergrad and my eighteen months of grad school. Saved me a lot of dough better spent on beer.
  12. A kidney? I need some better gear you know.......................

Every time I eat a bowl of Ramen I think of that scene in Bladerunner.
  14. I checked my email correspondence with Sasa and Boris regarding my Trafomatic Head One. The Head One took seven business days to go from Serbia to New York then three days from New York to Southern Cal. The communication was excellent all the way. I would check with your customs people ounds like they may be the bottleneck. Good luck, Greg
  15. Hang tight man, mine came in what seemed like a very short time given it came from Serbia and all even with the customs mofos messing with it for a few days.
  16. Regarding the piggybacking of the caps, I asked Dan Wright what's up and his response is as follows: "We do use the MWI caps in our mods and the output coupling cap is a 4.7uf-400V value. The purpose of 'piggy-backing' or 'bypassing' the 4.7uf with a smaller .1uf value, is to allow a lower impedance signal path for the highest frequencies. This serves to improve detail and dynamics." I hope this clarifies things for y'all as I am already over my head.
  17. So Kees, any impressions yet?
  18. I plan on scalping my ticket the day of the meet to help pay for some more gear.
  19. That sucks, sorry to hear that.
  20. Please add me to your will as a primary beneficiary. I promise I will do your memory proud.
