  1. From what I understand Craig is probably aware of this conflict but Voltron's last sentence tells it all. This seems to be the character weakness if you will of designers, they can never stop tweaking and evolving their products sometimes to the point of paralysis or just as bad, a cannibalization of their own product line.
  2. Happy Birthday! So what else are you buying for yourself to celebrate?
  3. Laine, When you go shopping, you really go shopping. Congrats on the new toys. Two Neogen Reveal Peanut Allergen test kits. My son has severe peanut allergies so we thought for his California Science Fair submission a research project addressing peanut residue and school cafeteria tables would be different, interesting and relevant. We are hoping his experience preparing for the science fair with a subject matter that strikes close to home may be that spark that ignites his interest in research or sciences.
  4. The X box was just there to serve as the source. Steven Smyth confirmed that the price was $3,000 which includes the Stax HPs.
  5. I hope you guys know I was joking about the cryo. I already use a BNC on one of my DACs and my next one will definitely positively must have one.
  6. So are you saying the only true 75 ohm rca connector is the WBT? Meaning every other person who uses SPDIF with a cable that isn't WBT is not getting a 75 ohm connection? I am having a hard time swallowing that, especially since my Canare crimp ons are cryo treated making them even better.
  7. Well we will make sure there is a Glenrothes welcoming committee for you if you make it.
  8. Come to Canjam 2009 and we will push that record. Though I might be a bit out gunned I will give it a shot.
  9. Fortyeight dollars worth of sushi just for me. Lesson learned, never order sushi when you have spent the whole day at a meet and haven't eaten for thirtysix hours. And NEVER order sushi when you are hungry and have had a lot of the large Sapporo beers!
  10. Happy birthday guys. Cheers!
  11. Not close by and not a good idea after dark, especially with your gear.
  12. Never mind, I found the answer in Naaman's post.
  13. I just got off the telephone with Dan Wright of ModWright Instruments, unfortunately there will be no ModWright products in attendance. I guess sometimes "yes" means "sort of".
  14. As long as his gear dosen't flat line.
  15. Happy Birthday Peter, see you tomorrow.
  16. I agree. I heard DigiPete's 3910 at some minimeets and it was very impressive, and Matt actually performs all the mods you pay for. What a concept!
  17. I spoke to Steve at GNS and found him to be really nice and full of information, a great resource. I only spoke to him about the Opus 21 and the Wadia though so this may not work for you. FYI, Dan at Modwright intends to send some gear to this Saturday's So Cal meet so you might want to check the meet thread here and at the "other place" to get a feel for impressions of his gear. There will be quite a few members there who have good ears so the impressions should be pretty accurate. Present company excluded.
  18. Kyle, the remaining partner at RAM, was supposed to perform mods on a piece of equipment of mine and obviously this was not the case. Wires were singed with very sloppy solder job, original parts were missing that he claimed were not on the gear I sent him. To make matters worse he did not take full responsibility for the screw up and admit that he misled me about who would perform the mods. Instead of offering a full refund for the clown act labor he called a RAM mod, he demanded that I send the unit back to him to take a second crack at it. Yeah, right..... Knowing what I know now, I would say that even if they perform all the work they claim to perform in their mods at the professional level one would expect for the premium they charge, ie no burnt wires or missing parts, you would be way overpaying for the incremental improvements. And yeah you are right, I am still mighty pissed off at them.
  19. Glad to hear it, we wouldn't want to have to summon up the collective wrath of HeadCase unless it was absolutely necessary.
  20. Hava biggah Birthday! Happy Happy Birthday Boomana-
  21. Did he buy that codpiece at Aberchrombie and Fitch?
  22. There is nothing quite as disconcerting as sitting in your office looking out the windows and watching black ash rain down around you. The wildfires are about fiftyfive minutes away by freeway but the smoke and ash are really thick out here. Sheesh, wish I didn't have to drive into LA right now.
