Antonio, The Lite Dac Ah uses a similar 8X 1543 Philips chip arrangement and aside from some parts swapping in the caps and the sealed transformer the Valab appears vaguely similar to my modded Dac Ah. Though the modded Dac Ahs sound is an improvement over stock $500 cdps, it may not be up to the standards of your experienced ears, even at a mere $180.

Woke up to supervise the unwrapping of Santa's gifts. Why is it that it takes two adults four hours to wrap gifts but three children only sixty seven seconds to unwrap them? While throwing away the wrapping paper I discovered my wifes SUV has a nearly flat tire. So I give her tire 250 pumps from my road bike pump to get it up and running. Spent the next hour finding a gas station to pump the tire to full specs, drop off a couple of presents then return home. I know what I will be posting in tomorrows "what did you do today thread" and what I will post in the "what is the last thing you bought" thread.

Hooray, another speaker DIYer. I would love to see all the step by step pics, since my own journey was such a debacle. I will also be really interested in your impressions of the single driver world once those are done. What will you be using for hookup wire and speaker posts? any internal dampening tweaks? Have you thought about a bronze cast or lazer etched metal logo ala the Moth?

Speaking of snake oil like products. Has anyone tried using one of those demagnitizers or anti static (Zerostat) on their cds to see if there was a noticable sonic difference? Note I said sonic difference not necessarily an improvement, and yes I know cds are made of nonmagnetic metal but that dosen't necessarily mean that using one of those degausser thingys may provide some improvement. Come on fess up, I know you all have thought about it at some time.

Isn't Wes Philips the guy who says that the AKG 701s are the best cans in the universe? He has also rated highly more than a few headphone amps which most people would take issue with. For some strange reason I have developed a real skepticism for anything Wes raves about.

Well I am a audiophile so I will only buy the limited edition and direct from master cd's. I think buying cds prewashed is alone worth their price. P.T Barnum is an understatement........

The Kosta Browne was a good score. I liked it a lot when I had it sometime this past summer. Oh damn, it was the 2005, well the 2006 whould be great as well.

Just to make sure, connect the L red off the amp to the L red off the speaker post. L Black off the amp to the L black off the speaker post etc.... like Spritzer said.

I vote for hammered bronze. I know you are a conservative kind of guy so that is why I didn't suggest red or copper. It will look cool regardless of the color.
