    True dat!
  3. Well looking at your last few purchases *galabier* cough, I guess you have no kidneys left.
  4. See you at Can Jam!
  5. Auditioned the Magico M5s again mated to the Meridian 808.2 and the new PS Audio PWT and DAc combo. The PS Audio PWT/DAC was a pretty impressive combo for the price and the M5s are the best pair of speakers I have heard yet. I can't say for sure that the PWT/DAC combo would beat out every CDP or transport/dac combo on the planet but for $6K they seem to beat out a lot of others for me anyway. The I2S interface and ability to play wav, RB, hi res HDX, HDCD, SACD makes this a pretty flexible part of my music network chain.
  6. January edition of wine spectator "100 Best Wines". Sighhhhhhhh... just what i need a new list of i wants. Twenty raffle tickets at the LA/OC Audio society meet. I wanted to win the PS Audio DAC but ended up with a Dr. Pepper.

I tend to agree with you there regarding why we have unsafe areas at all but I have found that just about every country with large cities have "safe and not so safe" areas, so this note of caution is not limited to just here. The not so safe areas he was referring to are the "you might get mugged" type rather than watch out for the AK47 wielding gang bangers or roaving Manson Family member's with Henkels chef knives types.
  8. Happy Birthday! May your birthday cake be sprinkled with nanoparticle pixie dust.
  9. Best of both worlds indeed. Now if I can just figure out how to manage all of that plus the speaker rig, then I would be set for a while.

Why not bring the girls with a chaperon? They can spend one day at Universal City and the next at Disneyland and the Hilton might be able to find affordable transportation to each amusement park. The alternative is Rodeo drive but I don't think you would be happy with the bill when they return.
  11. That describes my audition of the Magico M5s last Thursday. The M5s load the listening room with effortless music, you hear everything from the subtle breath of the singer to the decay of the sax and bass. My new dream system that I may not ever be able to afford.
  12. The Hilton's proposal seemed to make the airport shuttle offer open ended without time restrictions. When you arrive we can talk to the Hilton on your behalf. No worries.
  13. Colin, the Hilton will provide free shuttle to the Airport on Sunday just make sure you reserve a seat with them.
  14. Today I spent an hour and a half demo'ing a Meridian 808.2, mated to a pair of Aesthetix monoblocks driving a pair of Magico M5s, and a very nice demo it was. This was some of the best speaker audio I have heard in a long long time. When I heard the Magico bookshelfs last year I was unimpressed, especially for the huge amount of dough they were asking for the pair, but these M5s kick ass! The sound stage was wide, deep with both the musicians and instruments very clearly playing on a 3D stage. Though I have only experienced about three different models of Meridians in the past all of them reminded me a bit of digital zombies, not very life like. This 808.2 seemed much more lifelike in the reproduction to me. All the instruments whether flute, double bass or brushes on the drums, delivered a fast attack yet with the piano notes the decay was just like a live jazz club session. Great way to blow an afternoon in traffic too.
  15. Charity auction? Usually whenever I get special treatment like that it means I have paid through the nose for it, but then again it is for charity.
  16. Good thing I am a slow reader.
  17. At least you didn't do an endo, and more importantly didn't break any carbon fiber gear.

  19. Thank you. I am toasting you with a glass of Chardonnay, it was 92 degrees today, summer has officially started.
  20. For some strange reason I feel I need to get one too. What is it and where can I find one. I can't read the photo when I blow it up, seems like the manufacturer is lambda something or other. Google knows not of what you post.
  21. Wow, sweet looking wood and you still have all your fingers. Win, win in my book.

Me too. So it will be one of each and a Araujo Grappa. We may need tiny glasses though because the Grappa only comes in 375 ml bottles.
