  5. Metric Halo ULN8. Ahh, I guess I need to reconsider that weekend mall Santa job offer.
  6. That's some serious shopping my man! Much better than shopping for end tables with my missus.
  7. Absolutely beautiful setup! I ordered the 64 inchers as well. OK its been 12 hours, where are my 13s? This will be a tough wait.
  8. I wonder what year the Petrus was because 2006 goes for about $1200 and the 2005 which was pretty spectacular goes for $2600, down from $5000. Even at the usual restaurant keystone that is a pretty hefty markup on a too young Pomerol.
  9. Actual mother of pearl pieces embedded , glued or molded in, not sure which because the folks at JH were kind of vague as well, onto the outer area. It will look either really cool or really dorky, but they will sound awesome.
  10. JH Pro13s with my logo inlayed on them.
  11. Well think of the bright side, you won't freeze your ass off during Christmas any more. Congrats I guess and from now on it will take you half a day to respond to our posts. At least they have decent beer down there but I hear the barbequed Kudu takes some getting used to.

  14. Ohhhh, nizzzah. Me next hopefully in two weeks.
  15. Happy Happy B-Day!
  16. You still have two good kidneys right?
  17. It would take 14.6 bottles of Kosta Browne to equal the cost of the ear mold thingys.....not sure I would trade either way. Better to have both!
  18. Six bottles of Kosta Browne Single Vineyard Pinot :jbl: and two ear molds. Oh yeah, and some mother of pearl.
  19. The numerical system for wine rating is primarily a marketing and sales tool. First of all as you stated depending on how long the wine has been open or decanted can dramatically change the taste and perceived "goodness". Second, taste is subjective to some degree and when we are talking about fractions of differences of say a 88 versus a 90 points, time of day and how the wine hits your tongue can vary it's perceived taste. Also French wines as well as other old world vintners for example can have a wider variance with some appellations and sometimes even within the same year due to their wine making methods. This quantitative scale just helps differentiate good versus better for the audience and justify pricing differences along the way. Just my humble opinion of course.
  20. Half case of Valdez Pinot Valdez vineyard grapes are used in some of the Paul Hobbs pinots. Ulises Valdez is kind of a neat story too.
  21. I prefer the three tier system for rating wine. --Great, nectar in a bottle, good enough to drink every night and with special friends. --Ok, good restaurant wine, serve en mass at holiday events. --Awful, tastes like Jimmy Hoffa marinade. For cooking and deglazing. The rating scale is needed because there are only so many ways you can differentiat--"f***ing good".
  22. I use a tripath based amp in my home office that is powered with a rechargeable 12 volt SLA battery. Originally I used a battery powered cdp feeding various dacs via toslink and since the speakers were full range and very efficient, it worked real well. I didn't need to use a dac but the system seemed to sound better when I did. So when we were experiencing our periodic southern California blackouts, I was the only one in the neighborhood rocking out. Excuse the niave question, but wouldn't a ups backup serve the same purpose as the RWA stuff?
  23. Happy Birthday dude----- http://www.xici.net/u17679617/d100712485.htm
