  1. Absolutely true. I disclose my audio purchases in GBP$ when caught. Oh I am now getting ready to offset the ULN-8 with some ice. Bad time of year to have guilt.
  2. Well it was bound to happen but I am hoping there is an easy fix. We have a Windows XP laptop that just recently refuses to startup. The error message is " A disk read error occurred, press control+alt+delete to restart". well I did that multiple times. I even let the battery run down completely then recharged the battery, no luck. I have opened and closed the DVD drawer and checked all the other ports and there is nothing in or connected. Any suggestions?
  3. Yeah, it takes about a week it seems for the cedar to fully hydrate so to speak to a consistent level. I forgot to mention that the vinotemp with those cedar drawers looks absolutely bitchin' Mike. I am kind of tempted to get another one for the house and get rid of these humidors. The problem is if I get storage that is larger than the stock I have on hand I will start acquiring more cigars. This is why I haven't picked up a second wine locker, I know my weaknesses.
  4. Well on my system I have had great experience with K2 recordings, they just sound right to me. I became addicted to Shelly Manne after I bought The Three & The Two and At The Blackhawk Volume 2. I already have a couple of versions of the Monk CDs including vinyl rips so these will be kind of interesting for comparisons. I almost bought one of the Jessica Williams Live At Yoshi's for my gift exchange partner because I like the sonics on the CD so well but I got the impression from Dany that he might prefer a more contemporary jazz interpretation. The Live At Yoshi's CD is what sold me on the JH Pro13s. Oh, and I need moar vinyl. and the CDs averaged $7.5 at Oldies.com
  5. X3 for today. So far made breakfast for my daughter and replaced the batteries in my hygrometer and added water to the humidifiers in my humidors, so far so good.

  8. He is one damn cute pug! I hope the surgery goes well and speedy recovery.
  9. Wow, the lines at the post office have been brutal. After many false starts this week I managed to get to the PO this morning and sure enough, what a line. Luckily while I was standing in the line stretching to eternity, a guy walks up to me and says that he is a postal "service expediter" and for $10 he will take care of the mailing for me so I didn't have to wait. Man what a great service, the PO is finally beginning to understand what "service" means. As soon as I gave the guy the $10 and my package he took off running with it, now that is priority service. Oddly enough though, he ran in the opposite direction of the front door to the post office. The package should be at the Canadian border by tomorrow..........
  10. Why would I use The Back-Up
  11. Cayenne pepper in your undies works best for me. Thank God for tube amps.
  12. Dany, If it's hi rez it's all good......
  13. No worries Dany, use the CD cases I am sending you.
  14. *noted to secret HC meet notebook*
  15. Ahhh, redemption FTW!
  16. this is pretty good stuff even for an unsophisticated oaf such as myself. Now to convince my daughter to play this on our Yamaha.
  17. This is the wrong forum for that type of heresy.
  18. Bummer, you must have some of my DIY luck. Fritz even mentioned your name when I was talking to him, very nice guy by the way. He offered me an extended loan on any of his speakers for an evaluation on yours and a Head Case meet's behalf, so think of which model you want us to request then start shopping plane fares to Burbank Airport.
  19. Happy Birthday!!
  20. Ahh thanks Al. So the new TTVJ(Al's) is better than the TTVJ Hybrid (Greg's). Good to know, my TTVJ goes back on the for sale block with all my other unwanted shit.
  21. Just returned from our annual Los Angeles/Orange County Audio Society awards dinner. Had a very nice time, I met Fritz of Fritz speakers and invited him to participate in our next So Cal meet so this time we can give Miguel more details on the Fritz speakers.I thanked Eveana Manley for participating in CanJam and Peter of PBN audio for participating as well. These manufactures are some of the nicest approachable down to earth people. Invited a couple of cool guys there to come out for our next headphone meet. All in all a good evening and those Manley Neo 500 watters sound sweeeet!
  22. Anyone able to offer comparisons to the LaRocco PRII? I have been trying to sell my unused Millett but maybe I should give it a comparo and just keep them both. Al, how good is the Millett anyway?
  23. JH Audio just emailed me, the mother of pearl idea won't work. It appears that they cannot carve the MOP without generating unacceptably rough edges. bummer.
  24. He is probably in the bar doing shooters.
