Almost looks like Valerie Bertanelli and Jim Carey.

I bought JP Num's Denon 59L and I will get it when I drag myself up to the Bay Area. I would like to try for February but it is not looking good at this time. Thanks for the info on the Rg59 Fitz, I looked on the Monoprice website and I looked around on Google but found nothing about shielding. I guess I didn't spend enough time looking. Cables ordered. Thanks everyone.

Happy birthday Luis!

Thanks Naaman, my only concern though is that particular cable is not shielded and for such a long cable and with my luck I may need the extra protection of the shielding. They have great prices on some other cables I need.

I need to move some of my speaker gear around to accommodate my future TT which means I need to move my sub woofer about fifteen feet away from its current location. Allowing for curves banisters and height, I estimate I need a 25 foot L/R cable terminated with RCAs and 1/4 TS. Do I need a shielded cable for a sub woofer? Some forum posts say yes others say it doesn't matter. I do not seem to have any RFI issues in my listening room with my current pro audio sub woofer cable but I have no idea if these are shielded or not. After searching around until I have a headache I have narrowed my choices down to either- The Belden 1808A Belden 1808A, twin Miniature Coaxial Cable, color Black Belden 1505 F (overkill?)- Belden 1505F Bulk Flexible Audiio Video RG59 Coaxial Cable Or just plain rip cord. What do you people say? Thanks for any guidance.

Mutual admiration kind sir.

I have one too, and a keyboard, unfortunately the Mac Mini won't arrive until Wednesday. The ULN-8 will play the sounds of silence for yet another weekend. But there is some god news today. Evidently Paul Hobbs f**cked up my Cabernet order and are sending me an extra three bottles of his newest Cab as an apology. So karma does balance out this week.

Sorry Colin, that sucks.
-
Yep, will do. Gotta find that HD I put away for safe keeping.

2.53GHz Mac Mini w/500 GB HD, 4 G Memory and a "Magic Mouse" Maybe this will help me get some music out of the ULN-8 now.......

Nice pics Dinster. I have MWB as well but still waiting on the inlays.

Whoa! Thanks Al, time to go shopping...... The ECM stuff is usually very well done. I agree, some of the Charlie Haden CDs I could leave but there are a few good ones in his repertoire.

Indeed. I made out like a bandit, thanks Steve!

Nice catch!

Well on a more serious note I would evaluate your basic business premise so let me start there with a few assumptions since your stated objectives were a little vague to me. I am not an engineer but I am a consumer who understands marketing and to some degree marketing retail products to the audio(phile) audience. Let's start at the beginning, you ask a fairly open ended question regarding what audio product segment you should focus on given your strengths in analytical, testing and efficient manufacturing. I can't recall very many reviews of cables using graphs and signal data. I am sure many exist but they apparently haven't made an impression on me since I do not recall any. Most of the recent cable reviews focus on build, relative value regardless of their cost and the reviewers subjective findings that the cables under review sounds a smidge better than some other overpriced cable. Trying to convince the audio market that your cables graph better than someone else's is very time consuming and a litigation magnet IMHO. If you choose this route, you will have to develop a very compelling argument that quantifies your results versus the competition and why your data means your cables are a superior value. With this strategy you have a educational challenge and a marketing challenge. Perhaps you should consider something easier like improving on the selection of $2-7K speakers. Currently you have no visibility in the marketplace and have limited manufacturing and financial resources. It seems to me it would be easier for a startup with no name recognition to take an existing product with a recognized name that the market is familiar with, improve upon the speakers sonic characteristics, make something better and cheaper while still turning a profit, then evolve your product line from there. One option would be to gain access to a pair of Wilson Watt Puppies, run a battery of tests on them, figure out their deficiencies,(be careful here) build a better product and ship them off to CanJam 2010 with your custom matched ICs and speaker cables for demos. Graphs, data and sales pitches will get attention, but to compel consumers to purchase products at your (assumed) price points, they need to hear for themselves otherwise you will spend a lot more money and time waiting for acceptance. The audio market can remain uninformed and ignorant far longer than you have the funds to remain solvent. IMHO. Good luck.

Meridian uses a similar technology with their DSP5500s and newer DSP8000s. Personal preferences aside whether the music can seem too precise and sterile at times but the technology is slick and music is enjoyable.

I have been playing the Enrico pieranunzi-Fellini Jazz and a Genetic compilation CD constantly since Christmas morning. Both CDs play very well with my system, a lot of stage presence and detail. While listening and enjoying the music I just had a strange feeling of familiarity to the music. Upon reading the cover notes I noted Charlie Haden and Paul Motion are part of the quintet. I will be searching out more of artist. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://keep4u.ru/imgs/s/2009/06/16/d4/d4305ec1447b149ab41cb80a4708a77c.jpg&imgrefurl=http://interlacingshadows.wordpress.com/category/jazz/pieranunzi/&usg=__7vLMEaXelSbfCxo9Y84anSPeOqQ=&h=316&w=320&sz=12&hl=en&start=5&tbnid=77vHQNAI6-cSFM:&tbnh=117&tbnw=118&prev=/images%3Fq%3Denrico%2Bpieranunzi%2Bfellini%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D21%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG Thanks Dany, merci beaucoup!

Sonic Studio 302 (aka Metric Halo ULN-2)
Augsburger replied to jp11801's topic in Home Source Components
As Al stated, a the valuable feature of the ULN-8/Amarra-4 is the capability for multiple source inputs and multi channel outputs to various amps. A significant selling point for me with the ULN-8 is how it solves both my immediate and identifiable future needs. Currently the ULN-8 offers the ability to be a great dac for all my iTunes alac and aiff files, it will serve as a phono stage for my new TT, and it can take over as my new preamp. The manufacturer is committed to standing behind the MH hardware and software as their product line evolves to ensure a degree of future proofing for the ULN package. I see my main system eventually evolving because of my association with this forum, to comprise of a stereo TT, mono TT, PC (w/USB to spdif converter) running 16/24, 96, 176.4 and 192K files in foobar, my mac mini running iTunes perhaps a AES source of some type and possibly a reel to reel source. That brings it to six channels of input, up to four channels of digital feeding a tube amp, a set of monoblocks now and perhaps Klaus's Odyssey monos or a Pass amp in a few years. So who knows but if I get crazy enough all of this can be handled in one box.
