  1. Shelly and Vicki, you both deserve your good fortune. Al, try not to freeze your ass off and if you do, defrost it with a few dozen cocktails and a needle and thread. Spent five and a half hours on the freeway today attending the LA/OC Audio society Christmas gala. Friggin' California drivers are moron's and have no business driving in the rain, I stopped counting after six accidents. Mike Fremer spoke and is a really funny guy and very personable. Kind of like Tyle without the strippers. I was tempted to ask him about Ray's phono pre but thought the better of it. Chatted very briefly with Eveana Manley and kissed up unashamedly for my very far in the future Manley mono block purchase. Oh, and I finally won something in the raffle which I am not sure I can use. All in all a nice day. FYI June 3,4,5 will be the "The Show" in Newport Beach co sponsored by Stereophile and Absolute Sound. Vendor list so far is pretty impressive and I think it is sold out for vendors. The HeadCase travel team should consider this seriously. Rumor is they will have lots of good scotch and live music scheduled. Tribute to Jobim on Friday and tribute to Horace Silver on Saturday. I am working feverishly on my hall pass for that weekend.

  3. Happy Birthday!
  4. Shelly wins again, congrats! I am celebrating Shelly's win by buying myself six bottles of Valdez Petit Syrah. Yay!
  5. Sorry to hear about your day Stretch, I hope it gets better...................... You can be cruel when you want to be can't you. pics are awesome. Waiting for my 4PM meeting here in my office where we will be listening to some tunes and sharing a bottle of Kistler Pinot.
  6. I would have melted dark chocolate over the banana added graham crackers then used the oxycodone and valium as decorations. Kind of like Hansel and Gretel your friendly pharmacists..
  7. Try biking gloves for crutches, there is a reason the TDF guys use them while spending four hours a day wrestling those handlebars on the Alpe dHuez
  8. My wife works at a health care facility and they will not use Google for work related calendering/scheduling. I on the other hand use Google for both work and personal but nothing confidential goes onto or is linked to the Google calendar.
  9. Nice buy on everything Jim! And yes, I am very jealous. Oh, and for me a still to be determined large dollar amount for Lexus repairs. Just about every frickin' piece of electronics I own has bonked on me this year. I may have to go full mechanical next year..................or become Amish.
  10. ie. post #1-20.......X2!
  11. Well if we don't have anymore car problems today i may stop off at a local place here that seems to get some of the "good stuff". I would like to try Bitches Brew because i like Miles Davis and you guys seem to think very highly of it so that is all the reason (excuse) I need.
  12. Rodrigo y Gabriela-----frickin' hawt! Thanks Scott! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B000E6ETKM/ref=dp_image_text_0?ie=UTF8&n=5174&s=music
  13. Wow, that's a lot of beer Al, better bring along a few elves just in case. I know not what you imbibe but it sounds like an impressive list.
  14. That is why I use a sponge, paper cuts suck big time no matter where you get them. Scott better you make the change while you are young, regardless of your career path the better options seem to be in the private sector, except for health care admin. at least for the next few years. Good luck to you.
  15. /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ win.
  16. Congrats to Mr. Gene, sorry for the bad luck Mike and damn, what I would have given for half and hour in that wine cellar! I can tell there were probably some really nice finds lurking back there on the bottom shelf. Congrats to all you party animals.
  17. How 'bout I trade you a 55 gallon barrel of creamed chipped beef on toast for the Stagg? No need to thank me.......................
  18. Identical, "Planned obsolescence" X2. Yeah, I am not really complaining I guess six yearsin computer years is nearly the equivalent of a century in human years. Besides I went from 250mg HD and 1.5 of ram to 1T and 6 gigs--- frickin' fast. It may be the honeymoon, or some type of placebo effect, but now Foobar sourced music through my external dac seems to sound better and more natural than the old system using the external dac and external soundcard. My old system was Win XP, perhaps the new Win is a win.
  19. Another quad core pc with 6G of ram. Odd, I purchased my officeoffice and home office pcs at the same time six years ago and both decided to wank out on me three weeks apart. There must be an eclipse or something going on.
  20. Larry, Those look awesome. I have met the ownre, Mark Waldrep a couple of times at local audio events, one of which was Canjam, and he seems to be pationate about his work and is a really nice guy to boot.
  21. Why are you guys so hung up on music being the only gift of choice? Some of you would benefit from a little companion like a pet hamster or something. Ask Edwood, they are loving and great entertainment......really.
  22. Very sad Steve my condolences to you and your family. Jacob, sorry to hear this, I hope the surgery goes well and your recovery is swift.
  23. Sounds like you all had a fantastic time with just the right mix of fun, music, food and booze. Have a safe and uneventful trip back, wish I could have been there.
  24. ....and don't forget the surcharges for bags and "fees" and such. AZ Skyharbor airport charges various "fees" for car rentals ( I know, not the same as a cab but) amounting to 50% in addition to the car rental price.
