  1. Another wine centric dinner that was full of awesomeness. The theme for the dinner was a double blind wine tasting where we brown bagged our respective wines and attempted to guess the year, AVA and varietal. I brought a 2006 Mollydooker Velvet Glove and my friend brought a 2009 Malibu Cielo red. For added fun we had the bartender, a Anna Chapman doppleganger hang with us and share her martini recipes. Appetizers were a duck shu mai, wagu and sweet potato confiteish dish and a few others. Dinner did in fact not suck.............
  2. Well, I feel much better now. Can't wait for my wine dinner to start in one hour, I have a feeling I will be "tasting" more than my fair share tonight.
  3. Reading a Jobs book on a Nook, is like drinking Allagash in a bud glass, right?
  4. Al, glad to see your hip is doing better, lay off the break dancing on the weekends will help as well. Vicki, sorry about the HR problems, I hope they go away soon.
  5. A tough way to get un-friended by other heads of state.
  6. We are currently at twelve schools, nine of which are reach schools. Still this is a nerve wracking process for parents but in the end I know the school she attends will be the right one for her at this stage of her life.
  7. Al, you have my sympathies. It is both fun and stressful. We want the best for Emily and we have a good idea what schools would fit her personality and help her grow, now we just need for all those high falutin Universities to recognize my wisdom. We went into this process thinking four schools would be plenty to consider but after hearing so many horror stories it appears that seemingly good grades and good SAT scores are not enough. On a side note, watching Italy getting teed up for another whack in a few hours. This is getting ugLY!
  8. Like pulling teeth. Four on your coast, four on my coast and I think one is your spouse's school if memory serves me correct. My daughter just needs to get with the program and submit the required forms in a timely manner. Kind of like trying to collect duty fees on audio gear...... ooops, scratch that last comment. Competition is so tough that even with great grades and good SAT scores, graduating seniors need lots of backup schools. We hear time and again there are an abundance of high school seniors out there with 4.0 GPAs, 2400 SAT scores who have started their own publicly traded tech companies while funding a charity to fight literacy in third world countries all competing for spots at the schools we are considering.
  9. Spent the last two hours,as well as they last week arguing over college applications and college selections. I always thought up until now that getting through the SATs would be as hard as it could possibly get. Shelly, heres hoping the surgery goes as painless as the haircut.

  20. Hey, anytime you can complete a ride without an ER visit is a good ride. Keep up the good work! Sometime buying new gear or equipment helps you log more miles, my mileage is off this year so I am buying a new pair of shoes. I wanted some SRAM gear or a new set of aero wheels butI have other obsessions to fund.
  21. A sword cane would certainly keep her students' attention during lectures.
  22. Signorello 2007 Syrah. There were no cool pictures of the label on the nets so I am just posting this, you get the idea.
