That's not a euphemism, is it Mike? Should we warn your wife?

I asked if they planned to carry the Fever Tree stuff regularly, and the guy gave me a firm maybe. He said Fever Tree (or their distributor) is picky about the order sizes, so if demand is good they can keep it in stock.

Rye and Ginger, using Fever Tree Ginger Ale.

Great minds think alike... We also bought Kasteel Rouge today. Mostly for Debbie's sisters on Thanksgiving. I also was lucky enough to get some Fever Tree Tonic and Ginger Ale as our Binny's started carrying it. Also scored some Peychaud's Bitters and Fee Bros. Orange Bitters. Binny's near us has stepped up their game.

Last Saturday was the FFF 15th anniversary party. We had tickets ($25 per) and knew it was going to be similar to a Dark Lord Day situation. There were around 3000 tickets sold/given away. 4 or 5 bands including the Melvins. And FFF had collaborated with Surly, Struisse, and someone else for the 15th anniversary beer. It was being sold for $30 a bomber. There were also barrel aged Dark Lords and some other stuff available. And they had advertised 4-5 chefs from across the country providing food. So we arrived around 1:00 PM, when the gates were due to open. We didn't bring any beer to share as they had stated that unlike DLD there would be no coolers allowed in the gate. We were actually closer in line than last DLD, so we figured we'd have an hour wait or so. Um, no. We stood. And stood. And moved a bit. And stood. And stood. And got colder. And moved a little. And stood. We got into the main gate at 5:00 PM... And had our beer purchased around 6:00 PM. We were pissed. What they had done was tied the entrance line to the beer purchase line. So if it was slow, so was entry to the entire event. On DLD they had let people in the "compound" regardless of the beer line, and you got in line when you wanted. By the time we got in, a good part of the guest taps were dry, the food was gone except for two food trucks - overpriced tacos and cold pulled pork sliders at $5 a piece. And we were supposed to get 4 free pours, but you didn't get that until you got to the place to buy your beer. By that time we'd had it. We ran into several of the people we know quite well at FFF and when we voiced our opinion to them (not angrily, more in an effort to ask what the hell happened) they gave us attitude and arrogance. So we said fuck FFF and fuck the Melvins and fuck it all and left. I've not been back to FFF since. I'd paid $50 in tickets for the privilege of being herded like cattle and to be able to buy their overpriced beer. We did get a small amount of satisfaction as a majority of the comments on Beer Advocate were saying the same thing. And Debbie was pissed enough that she emailed FFF and let them know how bad we thought it was. She got a reply from their marketing guy who apologized and stated they need to review how they handle their large events. We've come to refer to it as the Bataan Death March of beer events, and I'm staying away from FFF for a while, to save some money for other things but also because some people who I considered friends treated us like little more than shitty complainers, when in reality I drop between $60 - 100 a week with them.

Latest update - the Kindle must have needed cheese as the latest hit shows it is in Wisconsin! Hmmmm.... Fire.... cheese.... Saganaki!!!! Opa!!!

So am I john, but right now my Kindle Fire is doing a tour of Texas..... Instead of free shipping I paid the 7 bucks to have 3-4 day shipping. So Amazon ships it on the 14th, using the FedEx hands off to USPS method. It's worked for me before so I'm cool with it. First tracking hit shows it leaving Kentucky on the 14th. I figure Kentucky to Illinois is a piece of cake. But apparently the Lone Star State was calling. The next hit shows it in Houston! From there it went to Dallas!! Shelly and Marc, keep your eyes open for my Kindle! It may have a tour date in your neighborhoods soon. And Steve, it may pop up near you as well. And then today FedEx changes my expected delivery date from the 18th to the 26th. So I email Amazon. And they do the right thing. Refund my shipping cost.... So I'm looking forward to being the last person in America to receive his opening day Kindle Fire. Yay.

And though not as big as a certain Mayberry residence, we do have some floor space for people to crash on. And one day bed and a love seat (reclining) and a sofa (reclining). And two showers.

My feelings towards FFF have mellowed since last weekend, as the FFF marketing guy apologized to us after Debbie sent an email expressing our feelings about the Bataan Death March of beer events. So I'd be in. Bryan, it sounds like 2012 is the year to revive ChiLiquiFi. Yeah, Austin F1 appears to be a goner, so lets get something together for late spring/summer here in the City of Big Shoulders?

Bluecoat/Dolin martini.

Tickets to see Rocket From The Tombs (70's Ohio precursor band to Pere Ubu and The Dead Boys). Old fuckers like me but they still rock it.

Good to hear the positive news Shelly. Hang in there and keep getting better.
-
Bought a four pack of that myself tonight. Enjoy! Having a Templeton Manhattan right now. Templeton is to Manhattans what Boodles is to martini's. Smooooooooooovvvvv.
-
Finally managed to get some Bluecoat so I'm having a Bluecoat martini.
-
Good luck Shelly! You'll be up and dancing in no time!!
-
Well done sir!! Although I was really hoping to come out there and kick their asses for not giving it to you...

Been enjoying several drams of Templeton Prohibition Era Rye. A small batch rye out of Iowa, it's very drinkable neat. My palate isn't that good, and its not as good as the Sazerac or Rittenhouse (obviously) but for $19 it's a nice go-to rye for me. A nice heat and sweetness in the mid-palate that I really like.

Happy Birthday Dinny!!!!

That really puzzled us Bryan. Dark Lord day last year was much smoother and more organized. That day we started out much further back in line and had our beer in about 90 minutes. This time, we paid $50 for tickets, waited 5 HOURS and our ticket price would have bought us four short pours each. Food was small and costly and so we said fuck it and went home. But I do have a bottle for you.
